FKF Premier League returnees Mathare United have announced the signing of goalkeeper Michael Wanyika, from Ulinzi Stars.Wanyika becomes the club’s first signing of the off-season window, coming less than a day after the club confirmed coach John Kamau as their new tactician. Njunge also has top-tier experience, having played for Wazito FC and Nairobi City Stars before joining Mathare in the second tier.Omala sets ambitious target for new season amid uncertainty over futureWanyika has played in the top flight for the last 10 seasons, debuting for Thika United in the 2013–14 season. Apart from Ulinzi Stars and Thika United, he has also lined up for Vegpro FC, where he began his career, as well as Kakamega Homeboyz and Bandari FC.At Bandari, he got his first taste of continental football when the coastal outfit qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2019/20 season. The 32-year-old has also been in contention for the national team, the Harambee Stars, earning several call-ups during Sebastian Migne’s tenure as head coach.The Slum Boys will commence the season with a home match against AFC Leopards on 24th August.
