Pep’s wish: ‘Let’s start the trial ASAP’!

It started in February 2023 and the end seems to (finally) be near – Manchester City and it‘s fans are about to find out what will happen with those 115 breaches for which they are accused by the Premier League. And this thing has been dragging for so long, that even Pep Guardiola is anxtious for a quick resolution. City’s case in front of an independent panel will begin in September with a verdict not expected until next year. Potential punishments include relegation from the top flight and nullifying the league titles, but the humiliation in the world of football will be massive, if those allegations happen to be true. City are accused of exceeding the PSR/FFP threshold nine times in 2015-16 and eight times per season between 2016-17 and 2017-18. They have also been charged with breaching UEFA’s regulations five times. The tricky part is that, unlike with the UEFA verdict, which was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, this time City cannot appeal to this institution.🗣️ “There is no happy alternative to enforcing the rules”Premier League CEO Richard Masters speaks at the league’s launch event about the hearing into Manchester City’s 115 alleged breaches of its financial code ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/GsDySatoac— Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) August 13, 2024 When recently Pep Guardiola started talking that he is currently closer to leaving Manchester City than staying, citing the years he spent in this club as the main reason, many were speculating that it actually has something to do with those allegations, assuming that the outcome might be bad for the Citizens. Asked again about the upcoming hearings, the City coach replied that he is eager to see this whole even starting as soon as possible.“I am happy that it starts soon and hopefully it will finish soon. For the benefit of all of us, especially the club but also other Premier League clubs and all the people who don’t wait for the sentence. I wish, from deep in my heart, we go to the trial, and the independent panel as soon as possible release what happened and we will accept like always we have“ he said ahead of Ipswich game.Home is where the heart is! Gundo’s return to Etihad as the Barcelona adventure endsLast season, he made it clear that he won‘t stay if City is found guilty.”At the moment we are innocent until it is proved we are guilty. I know the people want it. I know, I feel it. I will wait. Wait and see it and after the sentence has been done we will come here and explain it. But absolutely I will not consider my future if it depends being here or being in League One. Absolutely. There is more chance to stay if we are in League One than if we were in the Champions League” he said.PREMIER LEAGUE MATCHDAY 2Saturday14:30: (2.60) Brighton (3.40) Man.Utd.
