Sad news from Turkey. Former Ivory Coast international and a well-known name in African and European football, Souleymane Sol Bamba, passed away at 39. Bamba, who was a head coach of the Turkish second-tier side Adanaspor, got sick ahead of his team’s clash against Manisaspor. Afterwards, he returned to football and played at Cardiff and Middlesbrough before becoming a manager. Prior to Adanaspor, he was an assistant coach at Cardiff.Bamba represented Ivory Coast at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2012 African Cup of Nations. He moved through Paris Saint-Germain’s youth categories and wore jerseys of Dunfermline, Hibernian, Leicester, Trabzonspor, Palermo, Leeds, and the aforementioned Middlesbrough and Cardiff.
