Motsepe reveals dates, qualifying schedule of special CHAN involving Kenya, Uganda & Tanzania

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe has officially confirmed that the rescheduled 2024 Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) will be held between Saturday 1 to Friday 28 February 2025.This was revealed by the former Mamelodi Sundowns chairman, who is in the country, in his address to the media on Monday.##NAJAVA_MECA_8333661##Motsepe and his CAF entourage are in the country to inspect the status of Kenyan facilities ahead of the championships and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals.Given the congested CAF calendar, qualifiers will officially kick off on the weekend of Friday 25 and Sunday 27 October with the rest being held in December.Government announces Kasarani Stadium completion dateThe tournament is set to have 19 nations fighting for the title including the three host nations, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.Even though Kenya is still in the race against time in the renovation of its facilities, Motsepe is confident that the championship will be the best in its 15 year history. ##NAJAVA_MECA_8333671##Both Uganda and Tanzania have CAF-approved facilities unlike Kenya who will be hoping to have Kasarani ready for action before the start of December. “I am here to express my confidence that next year’s CHAN will be the best,” said the CAF boss.More to follow…
