What President William Ruto said during the CAF EXCO meeting

President William Ruto made a brief stop and addressed the CAF Executive Committee meeting held earlier in the day at a Nairobi hotel.During the meeting, President Ruto reiterated Kenya’s commitment to hosting a successful 2015 CHAN Championships and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals.Kenya won the bid to host the two tournaments alongside CECAFA neighbours; Uganda and Tanzania last year.The rights tagged along with the responsibility of upgrading the existing sporting facilities and constructing a new one to meet the threshold set by CAF.##NAJAVA_MECA_8334234##President Ruto revealed that he was in constant communication with his Ugandan and Tanzanian counterparts; Yoweri Museveni and Samia Suluhu Hassan in a bid to deliver successful football tournaments.This will be the first-ever AFCON and CHAN tournament hosted in the three countries and the first in the region since 2016 when Rwanda hosted the former.CAF president impressed with progress made in upgrading Kenyan sporting facilitiesCAF picked Kenya to host CHAN in 2017 but withdrew the hosting rights after the government failed to meet the deadline set for the upgrading of sporting infrastructure.President Ruto says the government is determined to succeed where it failed the football and sporting fraternity seven years ago.“Hosting both CHAN and AFCON are major milestones for us. I speak frequently with President Patrice Motsepe, and we discuss progress and much more. I also have conversations with President Samia [of Tanzania] and President Museveni [of Uganda], and we are all aligned to making sure both events are successful,” he said.Motsepe reveals dates, qualifying schedule of special CHAN involving Kenya, Uganda & TanzaniaPresident Ruto went on to highlight some of the benefits the country will realise from hosting the two tournaments.“By allowing us Kenya to hosts AFCON, you have given us a brand new Stadium without knowing.
