It’s maybe hard to believe, but Chelsea are leading one stats chart in the Premier League – scoring. The Blues again failed to land a ’proper’ striker, a classic 9 like Victor Osimhen, but so far so good, they have scored 15 goals in the first six games of the season, the best in the league. To be fair, there were games when they scored as much as six (Wolverhampon) and there were games where they scored only one (Bournemouth), but in recent games, Enzo Maresca men are finding the opponents net with ease, and not only in the Premier League. In the last three games in all competition, Chelsea scored at least three goals and the streak continued in the fourth one. After West Ham (3-0), Barrow (5-0) and Brighton (4-2), the Blues won again, this time in the UEFA Conference League: Chelsea – Gent 4-2. If there is one club on this planet which can afford to rotate the team in the UEFA’s third-tier competition, it’s Chelsea with it’s huge squad and Maresca did just that: he changed all 11 starting players! As expected, Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku started in attack, while Filip Jorgensen replaced Robert Sanchez in goal. Cesare Casadei and Renato Veiga also started, while Seventeen-year-old Kiano Dyer was on the bench, along with 18-year-old Tyrique George. In the end, Chelsea ease past Gent after dominating the game, while newcomers Veiga and Dewsbury-Hall scored their first goals for the club while Nkuku and Neto also netted. Enzo Maresca certainly won’be pleased with a leaky defense as even a mediocre Belgian team managed to score two goals at Stamford Bridge.
