Kenya Premier League (KPL) Limited has unveiled plans for a new competition involving all counties in the country.KPL was responsible for running Kenya’s top-tier league for nearly a decade until 2020, when their contract with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) expired. The FKF, under Nick Mwendwa, opted not to renew KPL’s mandate, taking over the league’s management.##NAJAVA_MECA_8396184##Though the company still exists, little has been heard from them since then. However, KPL CEO Jack Oguda, who is running for the FKF presidency, revealed plans to propose a nationwide tournament to the 47 county governors. In an interview with Passion Sports, Oguda stated that they have initiated discussions with one county and plan to meet the others to formally present their proposal.“We developed our strategic plan in 2022 after a meeting with KPL directors and shareholders in November 2021. Since then, we’ve been exploring the possibility of introducing a county league supported by the governors. We started with Trans Nzoia County, which has been receptive. We are trying to arrange a meeting with the Council of Governors (COG) to present our proposal, but that has not happened yet,” Oguda said.Sofapaka open to Matano’s exit amid Coastal Union talksThe proposed league, Oguda explained, would provide a platform for players to showcase their talents and contribute to football development at the grassroots level.“I believe that adding another competition to the football scene will benefit young talent across the country,” he added.Oguda also noted that the proposal would help counties utilize the stadiums being developed nationwide, many of which remain underutilized.“It would be a Governor’s League. Many stadiums are being built, but without teams to use them. If the governors create their own teams and run a league, it would be a distinct product from the county league,” he explained.Oguda emphasized that KPL would leverage its contacts, goodwill, and county support to attract partners for the league, should it be approved.Masawa explain his role in City Stars’ revival plan
