Nyaudo weighs in on Ulinzi penalty drama, blames captain Boniface Muchiri

Ulinzi Stars head coach Danstun Nyaudo is not a happy man following the penalty drama his team displayed in their FKF Premier League match against Tusker on Wednesday, 23rd October. In the 35th minute, with the score goalless, Ulinzi were awarded a penalty after Collins Odhiambo blocked Boniface Muchiri’s goal-bound shot with his hand.##NAJAVA_MECA_8435799##Muchiri picked up the ball but seemed to argue with Hillary Simiyu over who would take the penalty. In the end, Simiyu took it but unfortunately missed, in what was a crucial moment of the game as tusker took the lead moments later through Charles Momanyi before substitute Brian Kafero earned his team a point with a second-half equalizer. This wasn’t the first time such drama had occurred in the team, with a similar incident involving Mark Bikokwa happening in the recent past.Nyaudo has had enough and issued a stern warning to his players. In his post-match interview, the former Gor Mahia player expressed his frustration, especially toward captain Muchiri, to whom he had delegated the responsibility for handling such matters.“I was furious. As a captain, you need to take responsibility in such scenarios. Every time there’s a penalty or a crucial free-kick, you need to step up,” said Nyaudo.Harambee Starlets lose to Chinese Taipei in Pink Cup opener“I’ve told him that moving forward, I don’t want to see that happen again because we drew today simply because of his actions.”As a Warrant Officer Class One, the highest rank of non-commissioned officers, Nyaudo drew parallels to the military.“When you’re a captain, you lead from the front. As a soldier, he should show leadership. Moving forward, he will take responsibility,” he added. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Ulinzi Stars still waiting for their first win of the season. However, the former Kenyan international remains optimistic.“This was our fifth match. We lost 26 players and replaced them with youngsters. We need some time to catch up, but once we start winning, it will be all wins,” he stated.Ulinzi’s next match is against Posta Rangers on Saturday, 26th October.Kenya U17 end World Cup journey with historic win over Mexico
