Back in the 90‘s, Bayern Munich was nicknamed ‘FC Hollywood‘ by German media as it was an era in which Bayern players were as likely to appear in gossip pages as in sports pages. Fast forward to present days, things are not so dramatic as they were, but in recent years there has always been some sort of ‘drama‘ surrounding Germany‘s biggest club, and even now, when the new coach settled in, when the team is (again) at the top of the table and when the Bavarians are playing attractive football with lots of goals (unlike in Tuchel times) there are turbulences. This time, it‘s the CEO position.‼️The “manager magazin” reports on an internal power struggle at the German record champions – and thereby triggers an earthquake among the bosses. It involves criticism of Jan-Christian Dreesen’s DFL job, tactical games in the background and difficult leadership behavior. pic.twitter.com/XIp72KJEB3— Bayern News world (@BayernNewsw) October 24, 2024 The annual general meeting of the club will be held in December and a new record profit of up to 29 million euros will be announced. So, apart from the on-the-pitch success, there is off-the-pitch success as well. The only ‘problem‘ is the management, or to be precise the club‘s CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. On the surface, everything is fine and he did his job well after taking over from Oliver Kahn, but internally, he gained more opponents than he should. There are two reasons for that.Media’s blitzkrieg against Bayern afer a Barca lossAccording to the Manager Magazine, the failure of the media deal for the Bundesliga is cited, in which Dreesen, as a board member of the Deutsche Fußball Liga, was involved. The DFL must repeat the auction for the media rights after an arbitration court partly ruled in favor of streaming provider DAZN in its legal dispute with the association. The second reason is an old dispute with an employee which escalated around three years ago. Dreesen is said to have insulted the woman and thrown a magazine at her. The incident was investigated internally, and the woman no longer works for the club. On the other hand, president Herbert Hainer and the unofficial boss of Bayern Uli Hoeneß both agreed that stability is needed now, when everything is finally OK, so their motto is ‘if it ain‘t broken, don‘t fix it‘.Bayern went their anger on helpless BochumThat means that Dreesen will probably remain as CEO until his contract runs out in June 2025. But, it‘s worth noting that Brayern executives did go behind his back recently, as it is known that they approached Oliver Mintzlaff (Leipzig CEO) and Christian Seifert (former DFL CEO), and even the club‘s finance director Michael Diederich. Dreesen himself would like to continue. But, there are also popular rumors that the current CEO could remains in place for one or more years in order to make groom his eventual successor – Thomas Muller. The Bayern midfielder is already a legend, and after all, he is one of the rare successful footballers who actually played in the Bayern Academy. His contract is running out, and his brother Simon has been working as a fan representative at the club for nine years. He has full support from Hoeneß and Rummenigge and he could be a dream hire.DFB POKAL – GERMAN CUPRound of 32Wednesday 20.00: (1.80) Eintr.Frankfurt (4.20) M’ gladbach (3.80)20.00: (1.50) Freiburg (4.20) Hamburger (5.50)20.00: (2.95) Hertha (3.50) Heidenheim (2.35)20.00: (3.15) Paderborn (3.60) Werder (2.20)22.45: (5.40) Bielefeld (3.70) Union Berlin (1.60)22.45: (2.50) Dinamo Dresden (3.45) Darmstadt (2.75)22.45: (1.40) Hoffenheim (4.80) Nurnberg (7.75)22.45: (9.00) Mainz (5.90) Bayern (1.30)Tuesday Augsburg – Schalke 3-0 (1-0)/Claude-Maurice 26, Maier 87, Essende 90/K.Offenbach – Karlsruher 0-2 (0-2)/Zivzivadze 61, Beifus 72/Leverkusen – Elversberg 3-0 (3-0)/Schick 2,9, Garcia 36/RB Leipzig – St.Pauli 4-2 (3-1)/Baumgartner 17, Poulsen 12, 30, Nusa 80 – Guilavougi 28, Smith 58/Jahn Regensburg – Greuther Furth 1-0 (0-0)/Bulic 59/Koln – Holstein Kiel 3-0 (1-0)/Lemperie 8, Waldschmidt 84, 90+7/Stuttgart – K’lautern 2-1 (1-1)/Woltemade 14, Fuchrich 75 – Tomiak 43/Wolfsburg – Dortmund 0-0 (0-0) ET 1-0/Wind 117)***odds are subject to change***
