STARS ABROAD: Olunga on target again as Al Duhail register heavy win

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga was once again on the scoring sheet for his club Al Duhail as they registered a comfortable 6-2 away win over Al Shamal at Al- Khwar Stadium on Friday evening.Olunga, who last Saturday scored his team’s only goal against Al Gharafa in a 1-1 draw, was first on target in the 23rd minute to give Al Duhail a 2-0 lead, before assisting Almoez Ali for the last goal of a triumphant day for the table-toppers.مهنـــدس وهـــّداف 👷🏾‍♂️⚽️ pic.twitter.com/YDy6Wz30hp— نادي الدحيل ALDUHAIL (@DuhailSC) November 1, 2024 Lucas Verissimo gave Al Duhail the lead after 11 minutes when he headed in Luis Alberto’s cross from the right.Olunga soon made it 2-0 with a clever left-footed finish past Senegalese keeper Babacar Seck, and was the man intended to score the third before defender Mohammed Musa put a foot to direct a cross from the right straight to his own net.The hosts managed to get one back through Younes Belhanda, only for Ali to score his first goal from the penalty spot in first half added time.Kenyan ambassador honoured by Michael Olunga’s club in QatarAlberto soon made it five minutes after the break with a long-range effort that canoned off the foot of the post before going in.Algeria’s Baghdad Bounedjah then scored a consolation for Al Shamal that was compounded further when Olunga, striding in space on a quick counter-attack, found Ali in the box to slot past Seck.##NAJAVA_MECA_8466988##The win means Al Duhail are now four points ahead of second-placed Al Sadd after nine games.Olunga’s strike – his third in a row – meanwhile means he is on eight goals in seven Qatar Stars League matches this season.
