Two Kenyan referees in line to referee in 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN)

Two Kenyan referees have been selected to participate in a pre-2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament training and evaluation.The referees are the fast-rising centre referee Dickens Mimisa and assistant referee Samuel Kuria. They will join 63 other match officials and CAF staff for a five-day training program in preparation for the biennial tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania starting February 1.##NAJAVA_MECA_8492816##The course will run from December 4 to 9 in Cairo, Egypt. During the course, the two Kenyan officials, part of 25 center referees and 22 assistant referees, will receive updated knowledge and training on the latest rules and refereeing technology. An additional 10 Video Assistant Referees (VAR) will also attend the course.The course will also serve as the final qualifying stage for selecting officials for next year’s CHAN tournament. His appointment came shortly after FIFA lifted a suspension on Kenya, imposed following the disbandment of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) by then Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, who had appointed a caretaker committee.Kenya is racing against time to be ready for the tournament. The selected host venue, Kasarani Stadium, is undergoing renovations, with the expectation that it will be ready by the end of the month.
