The look on Pep Guardiola’s face on Saturday afternoon speaks volumes. It tells the story of a sad man who cannot overcome the many issues pressing him.Although it looked like the recent win against the Tricky Trees would kickstart another successful streak, the ten-man Cityzens were halted at Selhurst Park, 2-2.The visitors fought back twice, but it was only enough for a point. Just as Guardiola’s side looked to be getting back on track, they were pegged back again. It started with an exciting first half, as Erling Haaland cancelled out Daniel Munoz’s early opener. The latter slotted it into the far corner, following Will Hughes’ assist after he played a brilliant one-two with Jean Phillipe-Mateta.The defending champion, however, showed composure and managed to bounce back despite trailing. Ilkay Gundogan hit the woodwork, Savinho’s effort went wide, but there was no help against Erling Haaland. It was a lovely ball deep into the box, and the Norwegian rose as high as possible to loop his header into the far corner and past Dean Henderson. The Eagles were back in front shortly after the break. It was Hughes again who provided Maxence Lacroix with the ball, and his simple header went unchallenged by Manchester City defenders for the Frenchman’s maiden goal for Crystal Palace.Pep seemed deprived of any hope and joy in the dugout, but thankfully for him, Bernardo Silva placed the ball on the plate for Rico Lewis and the score was levelled again, 2-2. That was the third time he has netted against the same rival in his short Premier League career.Interestingly, Lewis went from hero to tragic hero in the span of just 15 minutes, as he was sent off for a second bookable offence. Ten-man City couldn’t find ways for that final push, so they had to settle with a draw that could allow Arsenal and Chelsea to widen the gap in the table.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 15Saturday Everton – Liverpool POSTPONEDAston Villa – Southampton 1-0 (1-0)/Duran 24/Brentford – Newcastle 4-2 (2-2)/Mbeumo 8, Wissa 28, Collins 56, Schade 90 – Isak 11, Barnes 32/Crystal Palace – Manchester City 2-2 (1-1)/Munoz 4, Lacroix 56 – Haaland 30, Lewis 68/20.30: (1.65) Man.Utd.
