AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda has clarified whether he will relinquish his position following his election as the National Executive Committee (NEC) member for Nairobi Region. Shikanda was voted in as Nairobi representative during the national elections held last weekend at the Kasarani Indoor Arena after bagging 25 votes. He beat the outgoing and veteran administrator Michael Ouma, who polled 23 with Isaac Macharia finishing third with 22 votes. ##NAJAVA_MECA_8555139##His election means that he will be sitting in Football Kenya Federation’s executive meetings and will be integral in making key decisions at Kandanda House. With his tenure as Ingwe chairman coming to an end in June next year, Shikanda is expected to resign to avoid any potential conflict of interest. However, the former Kenyan international is yet to make up as mind as he insists that wrestling the club from difficult grounds is more significant. How Shikanda used his experience to smart out competitors in race for executive member for Nairobi Region”Fortunately, we are club that obeys our constitution. I will convene a meeting with my NEC and see how best we will handle it. We are not doing well as a club and it is prudent to find stability first,” he said. When pressed further, Shikanda said, witnessing a smooth transition at the den was all what was in mind even as he hopes to communicate his stance soon. “The next six months are crucial to the club as we will be preparing for the elections. I do not want the debate on whether I should resign or not to bring the club into disrepute. The transition should be smooth,” he added.
