Walker: ‘Enough is enough’

Enough is enough, at least as Kyle Walker is concerned. The Manchester City defender asked for tough action agains online abuse he received after he and his club suffered yet another defeat, this time in Turin, against Juventus (2-0) in the Champions League. Walker posted a screenshot of a message he received from an unnamed user in which obscene racist insults were made.Kyle Walker is not happy with photoshop images posted on Twitter… pic.twitter.com/L0xhSOcyqx— george (@StokeyyG2) December 12, 2024 “No one should ever be subjected to the sort of vile, racist and threatening abuse I have received online since last match. Instagram and the authorities need to stop this happening for the sake of all who are suffering this abuse. It is never acceptable. To our fans, we will continue to work as a team to do better, to improve and to turn the corner together” Walker wrote on his X and Instagram accounts.UCL: Another defeat puts Pep into more troubleQuite reasonable, the club stood behind his player.”Manchester City strongly condemns the racist abuse that Kyle Walker was subject to online. We refuse to tolerate discrimination of any kind, regardless of whether that be in stadiums or online” read the statement. The Premier League also agreed with City and their player, by saying that they condemn “all forms of discrimination. Racism has no place in our game or anywhere in society. We encourage anyone who hears or sees discriminatory abuse to report it so action can be taken. The Premier League will support Kyle Walker and the club to tackle online hate”. What will Instagram and other social media platforms do about this (and many other similar or worst situations) however, remains to be seen.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 15Saturday18:00: (1.25) Arsenal (6.25) Everton (15.0)18:00: (1.33) Liverpool (5.50) Fulham (8.50)18:00: (1.35) Newcastle (5.60) Leicester (9.50)20:30: (2.65) Nott.Forest (3.50) Aston Villa (2.75)Sunday17:00: (1.90) Brighton (3.50) Crystal Palace (4.10)19:30: (1.63) Man.City (4.55) Man.Utd.
