Despite four defeats across the opening 15 matchdays, Lazio went into tonight‘s game with the current Serie A champion as one of only three sides to have hit double digits in terms of league victories (W10, D1). Most of their good work has come at the Olimpico stadium, where coach Baroni’s men boasted a near-flawless record this season (W6, D1). But, all streaks must come to an end and Inter did that tonight with a more than convincing thrashing: Lazio – Inter 0-6. A team which had a fantastic start of the season both in Italy and Europe and was actually on level with Inter at the table was easily dismantled and put to their place by Simone Inzaghi‘s men. Former Lazio coach (most games for the club – 197) continued his unbeaten streak against Biancoceleste which now stands at four consecutive matches (three wins and a draw). This is by far the worst defeat for Lazio so far, and it will serve as a great test for coach Marco Baroni and his men. They have game against Lecce to get back on track before crucial games with league leaders Atalanta and eternal enemies Roma and that can potentially ruin the great start of the season.⚽️ GOAL 🇮🇹 | Lazio 0-2 Inter | Dimarcopic.twitter.com/KIWx5nZxe7— Goals Xtra (@GoalsXtra) December 16, 2024 🚨🇮🇹 GOAL | Lazio 0-3 Inter | Nicolo BarellaWHAT A FANTASTIC GOAL FROM NICOLO BARELLA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!pic.twitter.com/0oq0s1UozP— Tekkers Foot (@tekkersfoot) December 16, 2024 The way this game started, it was hard to predict that there will be two goals by the end of the first half. Second (Inter) and third (Lazio) attack in Serie A were rather quiet in the first 20 minutes, after which a first real chance happened, and the hosts created it. Rovella passed the perfect ball to Noslin who was in the center of the area but instead of scoring with ease, his flat shot ended up high over the crossbar. In the 36th minute came a penalty for Inter, but after another chance and VAR involvement. De Vrij scored a goal which was denied due to offside. But then VAR called the referee to see a potential Gigot handball and penalty was awarded. Calhanoglu took the ball calmly and it was 1-0. Just four minutes later, and just before the end of the half, Inter doubled the lead when right back Dumfries crossed the ball over to the left back Dimarco who was all alone in the penalty area and his volley was unstoppable: 2-0.🚨🇮🇹 GOAL | Lazio 0-4 Inter | DumfriesDUMFRIES MAKES IT FOUR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!pic.twitter.com/3rRkVeDV14— Tekkers Foot (@tekkersfoot) December 16, 2024 0-5! For some unexplained reason, the home team left alone Nicolo Barella, and Inter‘s midfielder used that opportunity to unleash a screamer from 18 meters for 3-0. And two minutes later, Dumfries crowned his excellent performance with a goal. A cross came from Bastoni and Dumfries in the third period towered over Tavares and pass Provedel for the fourth goal. The game then went quiet a bit before Augusto used Dimarco‘s cross to score the fifth goal. But this was not the end, at least for Inter players. Marcus Thuram had to put his name among the scorers with a 90th minute goal for a total Lazio disaster.SERIE A – MATCHDAY 16FridayEmpoli – Torino 0-1 (0-0)/Adams 70/SaturdayCagliari – Atalanta 0-1 (0-0)/Zaniolo 66/Udinese – Napoli 1-3 (1-0)/Thauvin 22 – Lukaku 50, Giannetti 76 og, Anguissa 81/Juventus – Venezia 2-2 (1-0)/Gatti 19, Vlahovic 90+5 – Ellertson 61, Idzes 83/SundayLecce – Monza 2-1 (2-1)/Tete Morente 3, Krstovic 44 – Dorgu 37 og/Bologna – Fiorentina 1-0 (0-0)/Odgaard 59/Parma – Verona 2-3 (1-1)/Sohm 19, 90 – Coppola 5, Sarr 57, Mosquera 75/Como – Roma 2-0 (0-0)/Gabrielloni 90+3, Paz 90+7/Milan – Genoa 0-0MondayLazio – Inter 0-6 (0-2)/Calhanoglu 41(p), Dimarco 45, Barella 51, Dumfries 53, Augusto 77, Thuram 90/
