Unal denies West Ham’s win in Bournemouth

After impressive (and surprise) home victories against Tottenham, Manchester City, Arsenal, this year‘s surprise team Bournemouth was suddenly on the brink of a defeat at the Vitality stadium against struggling West Ham. The Hammers took a lead in the 87th minute after a penalty spot and it looked like the Cherries will suffer their first defeat after five home games. But Enes Unal came from the bench to the rescue with a fantastic 25 meters equalizer from a free kick and once again showed that this team is not quitting until the final whistle. After all, the Cherries scored the most goals in the injury time this season (five before tonight), and they managed one tonight: West Ham – Bournemouth 1-1.🚨🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 GOAL | Bournemouth 1-1 West Ham | Enes UnalWHAT A BEAUTIFUL FREE KICK FROM ENES UNAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!pic.twitter.com/QOdiw8vJTN— Tekkers Foot (@tekkersfoot) December 16, 2024 Despite winning plenty of games at home, the Bournemouth fans saw only 16 goals this season, one of the fewest in the league, and tonight it was not an exception. The final score was a justified one, as West Ham were better in the first, and Bournemouth in the second half. The most prominent figure tonight was Hammers‘ Lukas Fabianski with a couple of magnificent saves, but Unal‘s thunderbolt from 25 meters was tough to defend. The home team created the first chance of the match in the 16th minute when Semenyo struck a post, but it was all West Ham after that. Bowen‘s shot ended at the bar three minutes later and Kepa had to stretch in order to save a shot from Kudus minutes later. And then just before the end of the half Fabianski made one of his great saves in this game. Semenyo’s shot was blocked and found his team-mate at the back post with only Fabianski to beat. But Ouattara’s shot, which he didn’t seem to time too well, was stopped by Fabianski with his feet.🚨🚨| 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 GOAL | Bournemouth 0-1 West Ham | Lucas Paqueta📌Follow my account @moraahmed61199👈to support me pleasepic.twitter.com/40koYjNHhF— moraahmed (@moraahmed61199) December 16, 2024 Ouattara almost bent a long-range effort past Fabianski soon after the interval, while Ryan Christie’s drive was tipped over by the Hammers ‘keeper. The chances kept coming for Bournemouth as Illia Zabarnyi’s header whistled wide, then Fabianski saved Evanilson’s glancing header. After Fabianski denied Philip Billing and pushed away Christie’s follow-up, West Ham took the lead in the 87th minute.Tyler Adams blocked Wan-Bissaka’s cross with his out-stretched arm and referee Chris Kavanagh gave the penalty after consulting the pitchside monitor. Paqueta took the spot-kick and calmly sent Kepa the wrong way with his stutter-step run-up. But there was a sting in the tale in the 90th minute as Unal bagged a brilliant equaliser, looping an unstoppable free-kick into the top corner from 25 yards.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 16SaturdayArsenal – Everton 0-0Liverpool – Fulham 2-2 (0-1)/Gakpo 47, Jota 86 – Pereira 11, Muniz 76/Newcastle – Leicester 4-0 (1-0)/Murphy 30,60, Bruno 48, Isak 50/Wolverhampton – Ipswich 1-2 (0-1)/Cunha 72 – Doherty 15 og, Taylor 90+3/Nott.
