The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced an increase in both the prize money for the winner and the total prize money by 75% and 32% respectively in the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).The delayed 2024 CHAN will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from Saturday 1 February to Friday 28 February 2025.McDonald Mariga, Victor Wanyama identify key ingredient for growth of Kenyan footballIn a statement released by Africa’s football governing body on Tuesday 7 January, the winner of the continental tourney will now walk home with USD 3.5 million (approximately Ksh 451.5 million) as opposed to the USD 2 million (approximately Ksh 258 million) that was set initially to signify a 75% increase.CAF has been increasing the prize money for the winners in recent editions with the 2020 winner Cameroon getting US$1,250,000 (161,250,000).There will also be an increase in the total prize money in the tournament as a record USD 10.4 million (approximately Ksh 1.342 billion) will be awarded signifying a 32% increase from the last edition’s prize money.##NAJAVA_MECA_8619907##“We are excited about the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2024 and have significantly increased the Prize Money of the Winner to USD 3.5 million which is an increase of 75%.
