Kajiado FC accuses County Government of neglect, set for name change

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division One side Kajiado FC has accused the County Government of Kajiado of neglecting the team, despite being the only club from the region competing in the third tier. The club management claims that despite their consistent efforts and regional representation, they have been left to operate without any financial or logistical support from the county.Team Manager Mohammed Osman revealed that the club intends to change its name at the end of the current season in a bid to attract sponsors.##NAJAVA_MECA_8617622##Osman explained that the decision to drop the county’s name was due to the lack of benefits associated with using it.“For the last few seasons, we have operated as Kajiado FC, hoping for support from the county government, but it never came. Running a team is costly, and without any meaningful backing, there is no reason to retain a name that doesn’t serve us,” Osman told Mozzart Sport. He added, “We’ve decided to revert to our former name, Al Ahly FC, in the hope that this will make us more attractive to potential sponsors.” Osman confirmed that the team would continue to operate under the Kajiado FC name until the end of the 2024/2025 season, as mid-season name changes are not allowed.Brian ‘Rio’ Ochieng pens touching farewell 7 years after joining KCBHe further urged potential sponsors to come on board, warning that without financial assistance, the team might face disbandment.”We are open to sponsorships and support. We don’t want to merge with anyone; we simply need partners who can help propel the team forward. Without that, unfortunately, we might be forced to disband,” he added. In addition to the planned name change, the club has relocated its base from Kajiado and Rongai to Eastleigh, Nairobi, signaling a strategic move to enhance its operational capacity.Despite Osman’s denial of any formal acquisition, sources close to Mozzart Sport suggest that a group of local business moguls may soon take over the club to stabilize its future.FKF postpone National Executive Committee meeting, announce transition taskforceThis would mark the second name change in three years, with the club previously operating as Dandora Love in the National Super League, and before that as Nakumatt FC and Mount Kenya United.##NAJAVA_MECA_8617626##Kajiado is set to host Marafiki FC this Sunday at Ziwani Grounds as the third-tier league resumes after the festive break.
