Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has shared his views on two key changes that the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) leadership needs to implement in the FKF Premier League to improve it.The management of Kenyan football changed hands in December 2024 with the election of Hussein Mohamed as FKF President and McDonald Mariga as his deputy, along with the election of several other officials.##NAJAVA_MECA_8617974##With high expectations for the new administration, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder highlighted professionalism and increased prize money as the top priorities for improving Kenya’s top football league.“What they should do now is embrace professionalism and also make changes in our league, including increasing the prize money. I believe this will be done because the people who have taken over the federation are very professional and experienced, so we are expecting big things,” Wanyama said in an interview with Sports Eye on the sidelines of the Wadau na Otuoma tournament.Wanyama, who is the younger brother of Mariga, said the current prize money of Ksh 5 million is inadequate and revealed that plans are underway to secure increased funds from broadcasting deals.Debut goals from Ogam, Muchiri propel Harambee Stars past Tanzania“The prize money in the FKF Premier League does not make sense. Teams spend so much that it doesn’t match the prize. I have also heard that increasing the prize money is one of the first things they want to address. There will also be increased money disbursed to teams from broadcasting deals,” he added. The 33-year-old, undoubtedly one of the best footballers to come out of Kenya, left a word of advice for upcoming players who look up to him for inspiration.“Continue working hard and never give up, because there will be challenges. They have to be patient and believe in themselves,” he concluded. The former Southampton midfielder is currently a free agent after parting ways with Major League Soccer (MLS) side CF Montreal in November 2024.Financial crisis threatens Pitso Mosimane’s stay at Masoud Juma’s Esteghlal
