Nicholas Musonye, who chairs the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the African Nations Championships (CHAN) has challenged Harambee Stars to do well in this year’s tournament set to be hosted in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.Musonye expressed concern that local fans will lose interest in the competition if Harambee Stars are knocked out early.Dennis Oliech advises Joseph Okumu on his next career move“This is a discussion we have had with the leadership of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) more than once. We have told them that as a host country, they must prepare the team not just to compete but to win.“As much as we are struggling to complete the infrastructure, the FKF must get the best coach and best players and give them enough motivation to do well. If they are eliminated in the first round, they will have killed the competition.##NAJAVA_MECA_8624474##“Even if you open the stadiums to fans to come in for free and Harambee Stars have been eliminated no one will come so FKF must ensure the team proceeds as far as possible,” he said in an interview.Musonye has challenged Kenya to try and at least reach the semi-finals of the competition.’We must get points from AFC Leopards’ – Talanta captain“We have four teams from the East Africa region taking part in the tournament. I am sure that out of these four, we can have at least two teams in the semi-finals.Kenya being one of the biggest teams in the region, they should strive for at least a semi-final place that way they will have their flag in the final being assured of at least taking part in the play-offs,” added Musonye.##NAJAVA_MECA_8624476##Musonye has told Kenyan players to use the CHAN stage to market their skills to potential clubs abroad.“CAF announced lucrative prize money for the winners and this should be motivation enough for Harambee Stars players.
