Uganda Cranes legend Hassan Wasswa has rubbished a suggestion insinuating that the team will struggle for goals in the rescheduled 2024 CHAN tournament following the transfer of Dennis Omedi to Rwanda.Omedi caught football enthusiasts from the CECAFA region by surprise after ditching Ugandan Premier League side Kitara FC for Rwandese giants APR earlier in the month. The striker was largely expected to either move to Europe or a more advanced league in Africa but surprisingly, chose APR, who are regional giants in their own right. For starters, Omedi was heavily linked with a move to record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia last year and gained significant fame after his Rabona goal was nominated for the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award and CAF Goal of the Year Award.##NAJAVA_MECA_8640797##He finished third in the Puskas category and his strike was ranked sixth in the CAF awards held in December last year in Morocco.Besides the wonder strike, Omedi was a reliable goal scorer for Cranes in the successful hunt for a ticket to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals ticket. The forward was expected to play a massive role for Cranes in the CHAN but his move to APR automatically makes him ineligible for the tournament as it is reserved for players plying trade in domestic leagues.Reacting to his shocking move to APR and whether it is a blow to Uganda, Wasswa said there were equal replacements in the Ugandan league.Kenya working round the clock to complete stadia despite CHAN postponement“ His move will not affect the team. It was time to look for better opportunities elsewhere. We have great talents back at home. These boys are ready to work and have a name in the African continent.
