Ulinzi Stars attacking midfielder Yakeen Muteheli has opened up about his struggles to adapt at the club and how unsuccessful his initial attempt was.Muteheli is one of the young players at Ulinzi, stepping in after an exodus of senior players before the start of the season.##NAJAVA_MECA_8657701##The Kakamega High School alumnus tried out for the military side for six months in 2023, after completing his university education, but was unsuccessful and returned to his hometown of Kakamega.“I went back to my local team, Lirhembe Arsenal, where I played in local tournaments like the Cleo Malalah Super Cup and Karamoja Super Cup,” said Muteheli.Muteheli did not give up, and in 2024, he made a successful trial and was admitted to the team. However, adapting has not been easy for him, as he explains:“It was hard because it was a new environment and a disciplined area, so I was nervous, and it took me a long time to catch up. But now, I am okay. It was also my first time engaging with Premier League players, and I am grateful to everyone who supported me in settling in,” he said.Could German-born duo be solution to Harambee Stars, Starlets problematic position?The Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology graduate now targets working hard to secure a job in the military through the team.“I always push hard to repay the faith of those who gave me this opportunity and, if possible, secure a job with the military to help my family back home improve our situation,” he added.Muteheli credited his local coach for holding his hand and guiding him throughout his football journey.“My mentor has been Mukaisi (Dennis). He spotted me as a young kid and mentored me all through this journey. He is also our coach at Lirhembe.”Additionally, the Sports Science graduate revealed that he draws his energy from the blessings of a prayerful mother.“I was raised by a single mother who has supported me all through.
