Slavia Prague reveal reason for splashing Ksh473 million on Kenyan midfielder

Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy ‘Babu’ Ouma has been hailed by the hierarchy at Czech side Slavia Prague following his transfer from Swedish outfit IF Elfsborg.Ouma, 21, was finally unveiled by the Czech top-tier side on Sunday 2 February, signing a contract that will tie him at the club until 20 June 2029.After weeks of speculation, Ouma on Tuesday 28 January finalized his move to Slavia Prague in a deal reported to be worth 40 million Kronor (approximately Ksh 473 million).Swedish outlets also reported that Elfsborg had inserted a resale clause of 20%.Speaking to his new club’s website, Ouma, who was presented in a 21-second video with the caption ‘Pamoja Slavia’ and a Kenyan flag said: “It feels great. He has great physical qualities, can speed up the game, and is dominant in personal duels.“He is also hardened by European matches. We have been watching him for a long time, we are convinced that he will be able to handle the demands of Slavia. I thank Elfsborg for fair dealings.”Ouma becomes Slavia’s fifth winter signing after Divino Teah, David Moses, Vasiljuj Kušej and Jakub Markovič.His first chance to don the red and white in a match could come on Saturday 8 February against FK Pardubice.
