FKF introduces Ksh 1M reward to boost grassroots football development

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has introduced a Ksh 1 million reward as an incentive for excellence in grassroots football development.Announced by FKF president Hussein Mohammed, the reward will be granted to the best-performing FKF branch at the end of each season, with evaluation criteria focusing on the quality of league management and operations. Mohammed, vice president McDonald Mariga, NEC members, key secretariat staff, and branch chairpersons attended the meeting, which centered on strengthening county and regional football structures.The meeting discussed plans to restructure county and regional leagues, creating a more competitive and well-organised framework. Strategic partnerships to support sustainable football development were also explored, alongside the introduction of new competitions aimed at providing young players with better opportunities to grow within the football ecosystem.Former Tusker defender appointed FKF CEOMohammed also unveiled plans for a new county-based league, where each county will organise its structured competitions. The winners of these competitions will receive Ksh 100,000, with the top teams proceeding to an inter-county tournament that will crown the National Counties Champion.Infrastructure improvements were another key priority, with plans to upgrade football facilities across counties to enhance training and matchday environments.
