Government provides update on CHAN, AFCON preparations

Kenya’s preparations for the delayed 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) are on track, according to the Ministry of Sports.The tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, was postponed from February to August 2025 to allow more time for preparations after it was determined that the three nations were not fully ready in terms of necessary amenities.##NAJAVA_MECA_8755774##The decision to delay the tournament came following recommendations from CAF’s Technical and Infrastructure experts, who have been closely monitoring the host countries’ efforts. The experts highlighted the need for additional time to ensure that the infrastructure and facilities meet the required standards for hosting a successful CHAN tournament.The three nations have since ramped up their preparations. In Kenya, attention is focused on upgrading the Nyayo and Kasarani Stadia, as well as four training grounds that will be used during the tournament.
