Former Tusker midfielder Shaphan Siwa has regretted that hiccups encountered in securing a work permit delayed his debut for Kagera Sugar FC for more than a month.Siwa joined the Tanzanian Premier League outfit early in January after parting ways with Tusker after his deal with the Twelve-time Kenyan champions expired.The midfielder had hoped to hit the ground running soon after putting pen to paper at Kagera, but he was forced to wait for more than a month as the club had not obtained his permit to play football in Tanzania. ##NAJAVA_MECA_8773345##Siwa finally played his first match, for the relegation-threatened sugar men, on 18 February against fellow strugglers Ken Gold FC. “I had to wait for several weeks, as my work permit had not been processed. I am glad that is now behind me and I am enjoying football again,” he said. This is not the first time the former Kariobangi Sharks man has faced challenges in Tanzania; his move to Biashara United in August 2021 hit a snag. Having played three league matches and made a single cup appearance for Kagera, Siwa hopes to extend his rich goal-scoring form and help the club avoid relegation.
