The new ‘Old Trafford’ will be seen even from Liverpool

Apart from the terrible season, which has been softened a bit in recent weeks with only one defeat in the last five games, Manchester United fans have another topic to talk about – the new stadium. When Sir Jim Ratcliffe became the minority owner, he took the sporting side of the business and calculated how much money the club needs in order to be competitive. Since the iconic Old Trafford has deteriorated due to lack of maintenance (everybody remembers the the floods during rain or situation with mice), the club decided to build a new modern ground, instead of spending money to repair the existing one. Apart from that, the revenue from the new ground will be much bigger if the capacity is larger, so instead of 73,000, the ‘New Trafford‘ will have a 100.000 capacity, more than Wembley. But such a size and a proposed look will have to pass a number of approvals, including the Manchester airport. With family in shambles, they’re building the biggest house in the worldAs per Daily Mail, the new model of the stadium, which has been revealed recently has three masts, two of which are 150 meters high, while the third is 200m high. Such a high provoked Sir Jim Ratcliffe to compare it with the Eiffel Tower – and officials say it would be seen from as far away as the outskirts of Liverpool! But in order to make it work, the United brass will have to ask Manchester airport for permission. Old Trafford sits in a zone where any proposed structure of more than 90 meters needs permission from the airport itself before it can be built. And the airport is not too far away, only six kilometers. For now, the club hasn‘t started any negotiations with the airport, but it‘s interesting that United‘ current chief operating officer Collette Roche was formerly managing director at the airport. If Manchester carries on with the plans, he will be the one handling the negotiations with its former employer.##NAJAVA_MECA_8780077##
