Gor Mahia abandon Kasarani Stadium land, reveal plans to build new arena

There have been issues with the title and we may just abandon it because at the moment, what we are thinking is to just look for land elsewhere and pay for it,” said Rachier.##NAJAVA_MECA_8796391##The lawyer by profession was pressed to explain why the land is still a campaign tool especially by him despite being at the helm of K’Ogalo for the last 17 years.“The Kasarani one has been taking a lot of time, hence the accusation that Mugabe (Rachier’s nickname by fans, due to his long stay as chairman) has been repeatedly saying that he will construct a stadium every time. We have tried our best but it is not easy,” he explained.Mashemeji Derby date confirmed after two postponementsThe renowned conveyancing lawyer termed the stadium as a national problem but nevertheless promised to help the club acquire land for the same purpose if elected for another four-year term.“We may not complete the stadium in the next four years but we have plans. You have seen us (Kenya) play in Uganda and Malawi. City Stadium has been closed for many years and so stadia is a national problem in Kenya,” he added.##NAJAVA_MECA_8790117##Additionally, the former university don welcomed the renovation works at Joe Kadenge Stadium (formerly City Stadium), a place K’Ogalo called home for several decades before its closure.“We hope that City Stadium will be made available to us but we as a club have our independent responsibility to find land independently for a stadium.”
