Partey’s brace and Ayew’s magic enough for Ghana win

Maybe Mohammed Kuduz is the future of Ghana squad, along with Lyon‘s Ernest Nuamah, Southampton‘s Kamaldeen Sulemana or Bournemouth‘s Antoine Semenyo, but Jordan Ayew, along with his Premier League buddy Thomas Partey are still Black Stars‘ bosses. In a game which the coach Otto Addo called ‘a small final‘, Kuduz scored but didn‘t impress, just like Semenyo, but the veterans Ayew and Partey did. The Leicester forward had three assists, while Arsenal midfielder scored a brace for a win and a five points cushion between the second placed team in Group I: Madagascar – Ghana 0-3.⚽️ GOAL: Thomas Partey🇲🇬 Madagascar 0-1 Ghana 🇬🇭pic.twitter.com/gleluSjWJr— Goals Xtra (@GoalsXtra) March 24, 2025 Madagascar’s impressive qualification campaign has been built on defensive solidity, conceding only three times – the fewest in the group and among the best overall, but tonight the former Marseille forward change that with a man of the match performance which exposed Madagascar‘s flaws at the back. Now they are in the second place with five points behind Ghana and will have a tought task to qualify for the World Cup as one of the four best second-placed teams.Thomas Partey with his 15th goal in 51 appearances for Ghana. His lethal free kicks were visible during first two goals but before that there was one big chance in the 5th minute, which was basically a general rehearsal for the opening goal which happened minutes later. Ayew took a free kick and perfectly found Salisu who was not precise. Exactly the same place, exactly the same shot, but this time Partey rose above three Madagascar defenders and headed the ball into the net for 1-0. Everybody thought that this was just the beginning, but unfortunately nothing happened before the second goal, 40 minutes later. Ghana had the initiative and Madagascar made the first shot on target in the 80th minute, when the game was all but over, but it took Black Stars 40 minutes to put the game away. This time it was a corner kick, but the participants were the same: Ayew – Partey. Kuduz concluded his rather pale performance with a goal, but again thanks to a great pass through the middle by former Crystal Palace and Aston Villa forward.2026 WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS – AFRICARound 5Saturday Togo – Mauritania 2-2 (1-0)/Klidje 4, Denkey 69 – Koita 52, Mahmoud 55/Sudan – Senegal 0-0Sunday Eswatini – Mauritius 3-3 (2-0)/Mkhontfo 13, 18, Mabuza 75 – Rose 47, Aristide 50, Vincent 90+1/Kenya – Gabon 1-2 (0-1)/Olunga 62 – Aubameyang 16, 52 pen/Monday Namibia – Equatorial Guinea 1-1 (0-0)/Shalulile 51 – Coco 54/Central African Republic – Mali 0-0Guinea B. – Burkina Faso 1-2 (1-1)/Banjaqui 36 – Traore L. 6, 73/Liberia – Sao Tome 2-1 (2-1)/Andrews 4, Farkarlun 32 – Do Sacramento 44/Ivory Coast – Gambia (1-0)/Haller 15/Madagascar – Ghana 0-3 (0-1)/Partey 11, 54, Kudus 59/00.00: (1.37) Ethiopia (4.50) Djibouti (10.0)00.00: (1.23) Tunisia (6.25) Malawi (13.0)***odds are subject to changes***
