A soft penalty deprived Arsenal of all three points

With the title race all but over, Arsenal has only two remaining goals until the end of season in May: to remain second in the Premier League and to play as best football as possible against mighty Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter final. But both goals just became tougher to achieve after today‘s game with Everton. The Toffies are thriving under old/new coach David Moyes and they managed to earn a 1-1 draw against Mikel Arteta‘s men. With this result, the Gunners not only allowed Nottingham Forest to get within three points (if they defeat Aston Villa), but also created a bad mood before the first of two games against Real Madrid.🚨🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 GOAL | Everton 0-1 Arsenal | TrossardTROSSARD OPENS THE SCORING FOR ARSENAL!pic.twitter.com/hxzrIDgMi0— Tekkers Foot (@tekkersfoot) April 5, 2025 Chances were few in a dynamic but not so exciting first half at the Goodison Park. The guests managed to score a goal, but they did have a few good opportunities apart from that. Just after two minute, Everton‘s Pickford missed his kick and allowed Trossard to gather possession. The ball came to White on the overlap and he assisted Sterling, but Iroegbunam made a brilliant block to deny the winger. Rice‘s header in the 12th minute was destined to go into the net, but Branthwaite flicked the ball away from goal right under his crossbar. But after half and hour a miscommunication between Gueye and Branthwaite allowed Trossard to get the ball and the Belgian made a precise shot from the edge of the area – 1:0 Arsenal. Trossard also had a chance in injury time, but Pickford saved it this time, while Tarkowski blocked Rice, who had the ball after a rebound.Lewis Skelly gave a free Penalty to Everton😭😭😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/KrcyBQV0PX— MR (@marmoushrole) April 5, 2025 NDIAYE SCORES THE PENALTY AND EVERTON ARE LEVEL AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/O1XbNx5pjf— Goals ⚽ (@Goals360hub) April 5, 2025 The away fans hardly had time to celebrate the introduction of Saka and Marinelli at half time, as the referee pointed to the spot in the 47th minute. It was a wrestle between Harrison and Lewis-Skelly which started outside the penalty area but ended inside. Still, even when VAR looked at it it was a soft penalty at best, but the decision stood and the Senegalese Iliman Ndiaye was precise and became Everton‘s best striker of the season. The momentum shift towards the Toffies and Doucoure tried this shot in the 52nd minute, but Raya saved it. Arsenal was quite pale in the second half and their first proper chance came only in the 82nd minute of the game, when Odegaard‘s shot from seven meters went wide right. Martinelli had a much better opportunity two minutes later but Pickford was there to direct the ball into a corner and that was all we saw from the Gunners in the second half.PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 31SaturdayEverton – Arsenal 1-1 (0-1)/Ndiaye 49(p) – Trossard 34/17:00: (2.40) Crystal Palace (3.40) Brighton (2.95)17:00: (2.80) Ipswich (3.25) Wolverhampton (2.60)17:00: (3.20) West Ham (3.50) Bournemouth (2.35)19:30: (2.05) Aston Villa (3.60) Nott.Forest (3.90)Sunday16:00: (3.40) Brentford (3.60) Chelsea (2.20)16:00: (4.20) Fulham (3.80) Liverpool (1.90)16:00: (1.40) Tottenham (4.80) Southampton (7.75)18:30: (3.45) Man.Utd.
