Nobody wanted to say it out loud in Munich, but it was obvious from the start of this year‘s Champions League that it was expected from Bayern to play in the final. The reason was simple: the final game will be played in Munich. But, after so many injured defenders and without their most creative player Jamal Musiala (seven goal involvements), the Bavarians failed to create a positive result in the first leg of the quarter finals: Bayern Munich – Inter Milan 1-2. GOAL: Frattesi

But that great record also came to an end tonight, as six-time Champions League winners couldn‘t resist an experienced Inter side. With the absence of many players (Kingsley Coman, Aleksandar Pavlović, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, Hiroki Ito, Jamal Musiala and Manuel Neuer), Olise and Kane had the burden upon themselves and Inter new it. But the English striker still managed to get into a chance, and it was big one, only to see his effort striking the bar. That golden opportunity was punished with one goal and when the club‘s legend Thomas Muller went in and equalized, the second goal came in to silence the Allianz Arena.

Harry Kane was involved in two of them, and Olise on one, but in two out of those three chances, Yan Sommer was on the spot and saved them. However, he was beaten in the 26th minute of the match, when Jonas Urbig sendt a long pass forward that saw Olise find Harry Kane, who passed Sommer but the ball hit into the right post from the left of the box. It was a huge opportunity for the hosts. The guests had only one good chance, when left-back Carlos Augusto smashed the ball into the side netting from a tight angle on the left. But seven minutes later, the guests punished all Bayern‘s wasted chances. Augusto crossed the ball to Thuram in the middle, who played a deft backheel for Martínez, whose fantastic finish with the outside of his boot gave Inter the lead.Thomas Muller equalizer goal vs Inter Milan

Bayern finally took over the initiative, but Inter‘s defense is too good and experienced. Both Olise and Kane were shut down, and only Guerreiro had a great effort in the 65th minute, but his volley went just over the crossbar. Coach Vincent Kompany waited too long to make any substitutions, but when he finally made them in the 74th minute, they made the equalizer. Club legend Thomas Muller pounced at the far post off the bench after Laimer clipped the ball across to give the Bavarians an equalizer. But just three minutes afterwards, Inter‘s sub Frattesi scored the winner at the Allianz Arena. Bayern players were too shocked to do anything.UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE – QUARTER-FINALSFirst legTuesdayArsenal – Real Madrid 3-0 (0-0)/Rice 58, 70, Merino 75/Bayern – Inter 1-2 (0-1)/Muller 85 – Lautaro 38, Frattesi 88/Wednesday 22.00: (1.37) Barcelona (5.10) Dortmund (7.75)22.00: (1.42) PSG (5.00) Aston Villa (7.00)***odds are subject to change***
