This PSG is so powerful! Dembele and Gigi silenced the Emirates

Arsenal created a beautiful and unexpected journey in the Champions League this season and brought joy to their fans, who were disappointed that the Gunners came out of the title race too early, but after tonight‘s game, it looks that this journey will come to an end. After two fantastic games and an unbelievable 5-1 win over mighty Real Madrid on aggregate, Mikel Arteta‘s men failed to use the home field advantage and the packed Emirates: Arsenal – PSG 0-1.DEMBELE WHAT A GOAL!!BALLON D’OR IS COMING pic.twitter.com/GQuGOdUAfZ— Dr Yash  (@YashRMFC) April 29, 2025 It didn‘t matter that the Gunners won 2-0 at the same stadium in the group stage, the Parisians were better tonight due to three reasons: Ousmane Dembele, Gigi Donnarumma and ‘longer bench‘. The French international is playing in form of his life and tonight, he scored the only goal due to his quality while keeping his record of a goal-per-game in 2025 at the same time. Incredible to think that his best for a campaign prior to this was 14 for Barcelona back in 2018/19. He has 33 goals in 2024/25. Remarkable. What a save by Donnarumma! 🤯🧤 pic.twitter.com/UWtfbKeTkn— Ligue 1 English (@Ligue1_ENG) April 29, 2025 Donnarumma, what a save.THANK YOU. pic.twitter.com/qKCSH5pc9T— UF (@UtdFaithfuls) April 29, 2025 Let‘s not forget the Italian keeper who had his troubles during the season but shone just when he was supposed to – in the knockout stages. He didn‘t disappoint tonight either and made two fantastic saves to deny the Gunners of even scoring and equalizer. And finally, the Parisians have much more quality in their team, and what‘s equallly important, they are all healthy. Luis Enrique even had the audacity to field the PSG team that lost 3-1 to Nice in Ligue 1 on Friday and still win in North London. Players like Barcola and Ramos were on the bench, while Mikel Arteta had only Nwaneri and Sterling as the attacking options. His first substitution? White for Timber in the 81st minute. It feels like that players like Havertz or Jesus could have created some sort ot chances or goals if they were available. But, stranger things have happened in football and nobody should write off the Gunners just yet.The PSG players with the most goal involvements in a single UCL campaign:🇫🇷 Ousmane Dembélé 🤝 Kylian Mbappé 🇫🇷 pic.twitter.com/oC7Rh9Ur3R— OneFootball (@OneFootball) April 29, 2025 As soon as the game started, it was 1-0 for the guests, Dembele started the action and then passed the ball to Kvaratskhelia down the left, who got it back to Dembele, who was all alone and unmarked with enough time to chose a left angle of Raya‘s goal for the sudden lead. For the large period of the first half there were no chances but there were two penalty claims. In the 16th minute Kvaratskhelia went through three Arsenal defenders and then fell down, but the referee was close and decided it was not a penalty. In the 37th minute it was a bit trickier situation between Merino and Joao Neves but the Slovenian referee again decided it was not a penalty. Clearly penalty on Mikel MerinoArsenal is getting robbed in London.#UCL pic.twitter.com/AL4S6wSnme— 𝐀𝐅𝐂 Loki 🍿 (@TheLokiLad) April 29, 2025 An excellent Doue‘s shot was saved by Raya but it was offside. And then, finally, at the end of the first half, the home team finally had a proper chance, in fact two of them. In the first one, it was Saka on the left with a great cross, but Martinelli was inches away from tapping the ball into an empty net. Four minutes later, the Brazilian was again the main actor, and this time he was in front of the goal with a powerful shot from the left, but Donnarumma was there to save it. The Gunners continued with an offensive initiative at the start of the second half as well and Merino even scored, but VAR rulled that it was an offside. And then PSG keeper made another excellent save, even tougher than the first one, this time after Trossard‘s shot. The guests made their first opportunity in the 77th minute, when Joao Neves finally got an open space to shoot, but his ball went over the bar. Barcola came instead of Dembele and could have secured the win, but his shot in the 84th minute went so near the post. Just two minutes later Ramos had even better opportunity, but his skilled shot ended at the crossbar.
