After securing a long-waited title last week, Liverpool players had two possible mindsets for today‘s game against Chelsea – either to play with confidence and freedom, now that the title is already won, or to drop on intensity. Luckily for Chelsea fans, the Liverpool players decided to show up on Stanford Brigde only in body but not in mind. In certainly their worst performance since the league started, the Reds lost 3-1 with such simplicity that Arne Slot should be worried. Off course, the Liverpool boss won‘t have too many sleepless nights after he won the league, but after rotating the squad for this game, he will be displeased with the players he will have to count on next season. Chelsea players deliver guard of honor for Liverpool players before the game, and they should gave them another one after 90 minutes for a display which provided them an easy win. This was the worst loss for Slot in his short Liverpool career. 🚨🏴 GOAL | Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool | Enzo FernandezENZO FERNANDEZ OPENS THE SCORING FOR CHELSEA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!pic.twitter.com/UFgmxcMqLh— Tekkers Foot (@tekkersfoot) May 4, 2025 The Reds were unbeaten in their last six league visits to Chelsea and have lost only one of 10 here in the league, but that changed today. Slot made six changes as Kostas Tsimikas, Jarrel Quansah, Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Diogo Jota all started. Other first team players who started the game were terrible as well, but at least they won when they needed. This lot was not used much and this was their big chance to shine in front of Slot, but they totally blew it. Chelsea players not only won their critical game in the Champions League place battle, but did so without any trouble at all. The Blues had some tense games and won two matches with extreme effort (1-0 Everton and 2-1 Fulham after coming from behind), but this was walk in the part after a shameful Liverpool display. The English champion had only one shot on target for 75 minutes and failed to create a proper chance until 15 minutes before the end.🚨🚨| GOAL: CHELSEA HAVE DOUBLED THEIR LEAD AGAINST LIVERPOOL!!!Chelsea 2-0 Liverpool pic.twitter.com/XlHjXgiaQH— Goals Side (@goalsside) May 4, 2025 Liverpool basically gave away both goals thanks to their comical defense. The first one happened after just three minutes, when they allowed the surging Enzo Fernandez to put the ball into the net, completely alone from seven meters away. The Argentinian is finally showing why Chelsea broke the 100 million pounds barrier to buy him from Benfica just over two years ago. The Argentine midfielder has created 73 chances this season – with only three players across the whole division making more and added a goal today. Madueke could have added another one just two minutes before but the ball went just inches wide. Alisson should have got a red card after a tackle on Jackson in the ninth minute, but luckily for him, an offside was called seconds before. Second half was even more boring until young Quansah made his nigh even worse with a own goal in the 56th minute. After a chaos in the penalty area, Van Dijk’s attempted clearance smacked into Quansah and ended up in the back of the net for 2-0. Chelsea went close to a third through Palmer, but his shot went off the bar in the 81st minute. Van Dijk scored in the 85th minute from a corner kick, but there was never any real danger of an equalizer until the end. In fact, the guests continued with a terrible defense and Quansah brought down Caicedo deep into injury time, allowing Cole Palmer to finally score for the final 3-1.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 35Friday Man.
