If there’s one thing we’d change about this La Liga season, it’s definitely – the chance to keep it going!Unfortunately, it had to end at some point, leaving us with a sensation of one of the most entertaining campaigns ever. It’s not a surprise we were provided with a blockbuster fun since La Liga gathers some of the world’s best players at the moment, especially among Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.Barcelona finally get their hands on their 28th LaLiga title 🏆🔵🔴 pic.twitter.com/Lu1YgAlXPl— OneFootball (@OneFootball) May 18, 2025 Those three were expectedly top contenders for the title, and we witnessed a very exciting race that ended in the Blaugrana’s deserved triumph. More importantly, Hansi Flick presented us with an out-of-this-world hazardous football, which was demonstrated by a group of (mostly) teenagers and will go down in history for its unique style and vibe. So, let’s start our little review from the Hansi’s astonishing kindergarten.##NAJAVA_MECA_8952852####EDITORS_CHOICE##ALLMIGHTY PRESCHOOLPicture this – the Catalan side battered their archrival, Los Blancos, in all four encounters with a mouth-watering goal difference of 16:7! Along with Super Cup (5-2) and Copa del Rey victories (3-2), Barca ran riots against Real Madrid in both La Liga battles. Firstly, they demolished Carlo Ancelotti’s team 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu before securing the championship title with a hard-fought 4-3 win in a seven-goal thriller. The fact that they dominated not just other 18 La Liga rivals but also giants like Real Madrid shows how mighty Barcelona actually were from start to finish. A domestic Treble speaks for itself! The man who transformed BarcelonaFlick managed to reinvent Raphinha, who enjoyed a fantastic campaign incomparable to anything he had done in previous years. Moreover, the German tactician is the one to ‘blame’ for Lamine Yamal’s undisputed brilliance, as the 17-year-old continued to thrive, reaching unprecedented levels for such a young player. The new Messi has been mesmerizing, showcasing a cutting-edge set of skills as an operator in the attacking midfield and a superb and lethal winger capable of firing from every possible place. What that little kid did to rivals across Spain in the recently ended season is worth a Netflix documentary, as he caught the attention of the entire planet for his second-to-none talent and potential. If he’s so magnificent at 17, what should we expect from him in the next ten years? Only the sky is the limit. This El Clasico was a feast for the eyes! Epic showdown – Barcelona move one step closer to the title!Robert Lewandowski ensured Barca’s preschool gang was equipped with more experience and wisdom, which proved crucial in more than a few La Liga games against resilient minnows. Lewa’s unparalleled finishing skills and vast experience provided the Blaugrana with a few late victories, which proved crucial in the fight for the silverware.##NAJAVA_MECA_8956512##Add a handful of other La Masia gems to the equation – like Dani Olmo, Pedri, Gavi, Pau Cubarsi – and you get a star-studded squad, which was raised entirely in the outskirts of Camp Nou, which will be definitely packed following a lengthy renovation. Barcelona will earn millions from ticket sales, as thousands and thousands of fans worldwide are eager to see this magical kindergarten back in action again. That Champions League disappointment will be quickly forgotten and used as a foundation – and a massive motivation – for success to come.ZILLIONS WON’T BUY YOU TROPHIESIt’s strange – you’re a La Liga champion, along with the Champions League triumph before you add Kylian Mbappe to that already star-studded team. And next season, you end up with – nothing, zero, zilch. That’s why football is so special. Although it’s substantial for well-being, it won’t guarantee happiness, let alone trophies.A team’s chemistry and harmony can be disturbed easily, and often, it’s the nuances that make all the difference. This time, unlike many previous seasons, they were not on Real Madrid’s side.Bundesliga recap: Bayern the champion again, Borussia‘s salvation in the last roundLigue 1 recap: Good old PSG, late drama and 99th-minute penalty that changed so many thingsDone deal – Zubimendi is the new Gunner!Carlo Ancelotti’s last season in Los Blancos’ dugout was one of the worst for the Italian wolf. Mbappe’s arrival forced him to move Rodrygo from his usual position, and it damaged the attacking fluidity as both Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo seemed stranded on the shore with Mbappe despite the Frenchman’s convincing goalscoring output. Mbappe earned his first European Golden Shoe award for 31 league goals, but that was not enough for the Royals to top their Catalan archrival. The tie-breaker in this season’s title battle is Jude Bellingham, too. Unlike the previous campaign – his first at Santiago Bernabeu – when the Englishman starred and led the team to the ultimate glory, this was a pure disaster. His shoulder injury, which kept returning and causing problems throughout the season, massively affected Bellingham’s performances. He was a shadow of his former self, seldomly lost between the lines, incapable of leading the Madrid gang to the expected heights. It became apparent against Barcelona, where he stood no chance with potent counterparts like Pedri, Olmo, and others.Bellingham and Rudiger clash at training session! Moreover, Luka Modric spent the majority of the season in the shadows, as the Croat veteran clocked his last minutes in the white shirt. One of the best midfielders in the world is past his prime, and due to his age, he just couldn’t deliver what Ancelotti demanded. If Modric’s alibi lies in overmaturity, then Arda Guler and Endrick remain two pieces of Carletto’s puzzle that cannot be explained just by their tender age. The duo was expected to make a much more profound impact, but instead, all they were left with were bits and pieces – contrary to their Barcelona peers.Fury Ancelotti criticizes Endrick: “Theatre in football doesn’t exist”Last but not least, a disturbing number of injuries, especially in Los Blancos’ backline, definitely affected the team in the worst possible way. Rudiger, Alaba, Militao, Carvajal, Mendy, and Camavinga were out of the action for most of the season, leaving a giant hole in the defensive wall, thus making them as vulnerable as possible.A LOT OF HUSTLE BUT A SMALL GAINDiego Simeone’s die-hard gang did their best in La Liga and the Champions League, staying loyal to their boss’ football philosophy. Yet it ended with their completely empty pockets. Once again.Simeone: We would have won 6-4 if we were more aggressiveFor a decent part of La Liga campaign, Los Colchoneros were toe to toe with Barca and Real Madrid, but as time went by, the Wanda Metropolitano outfit seemed to be losing the pace. At one point, when it became clear that they had fallen behind in the three-horse race, with some ten rounds left, Cholo’s lot gave up on dreams. It made sure they stayed on the track until the end, securing that almost reserved third place.Forget Haaland! Atleti’s ‘Viking’ nets four in 30 minutes and destroys BasquesIt’s a pity Los Colchoneros couldn’t capitalize on Alexander Sorloth’s brutal campaign. He scored 20 La Liga goals, including two hat-tricks in May, in the span of just 15 days, against Real Sociedad and Girona. With Julian Alvarez, Sorloth is part of a mesmerizing attacking partnership, which should bring a lot of joy to Simeone in the years to come. Of course, if they manage to keep them at Wanda Metropolitano.RENAISSANCE IN GREEN AND WHITEIf anyone told you before the season started that Real Betis would play in the UEFA Conference League final and secure the Europa League through La Liga, you think of him as a genuine optimist. Yet, Manuel Pellegrini made all that a reality, as the 71-year-old tactician deserves all the credit for the resurrection of Isco Alarcon and Antony.Coldest Palmer directs second-half blitzkrieg as Chelsea come from behind to knock Betis and win ECL!Los Verdiblancos had an amazing campaign thanks to two football magicians who only needed a second chance to prove their extraordinary skills and abilities. Antony’s goal against Espanyol is definitely one of the contenders for the Goal of the Season. On the other hand, Isco’s remarkable performances earned him another call-up for the national team after five years. Now 33, the former Real Madrid playmaker reinvented himself at Benito Villamarin stadium, and it is a pleasure to watch him dance his way on the pitch.Unfortunately, they lost the Conference League final to Chelsea, but this does not spoil the overall impression of a fantastic season they had.THE REAL RONALDO AND HIS REAL DISASTERRonaldo Nazario is one of the best players to ever grace the football pitch, but his post-career achievements have been nowhere near his footballing skills. His ownership of Real Valladolid—he took over in September 2018—proved to be a genuine catastrophe. They suffered relegations from La Liga in 2021, 2023, and, now, 2025.Those awful results triggered enraged fans who organized protests against the Brazilian, who has finally agreed to sell his stake of 88% in the club. And you still think it’s a piece of cake to run a football club?
