The 2024/2025 Premier League campaign is over. As always, it didn’t disappoint, providing fans all over the world with numerous magical moments, turnarounds, surprises, and, most importantly, goals. As usual, Mozzart Sport Kenya has prepared a complete and thorough recap of the season in England, focusing on all the moments, players, and teams that have left the biggest mark on the season behind us.MERCILESS REDS AND ARNE “THE MAGICIAN” SLOTHow else can we start but with the champions? That’s only fair, isn’t it?Although practically nobody expected it after Jurgen Klopp’s departure and the arrival of relatively unknown tactician Arne Slot, Liverpool literally dominated the league and won their jubilee 20th title without a hitch! While their fiercest rivals in the title race, Arsenal and Man City, slipped here and there, fighting against each other, the Reds were the most constant team in the league, not letting anyone jeopardize their leading position.Arne Slot kissing the Premier League trophy (©Carl Recine/Getty Images)Led by outstanding Mohamed Salah, the Anfield crew exploited every chance they got, depriving the fans of any uncertainty in the final part of the season. Simply, nobody could have stopped them.Slot’s impact has, of course, been immense, as the Dutchman defined players’ roles perfectly and created a sturdy defence, reliable midfield, and lethal attack. Additionally, the aforementioned Egyptian reached new levels of greatness under Slot, while Ryan Gravenberch became one of the best midfielders in the league.Well done, Liverpool! Your success was well deserved!ARSENAL TRUST ARTETA’S PROCESS… FOR HOW LONG?Vice-champions for the third season in a row. Not bad considering the competition, but not enough if you ask Arsenal’s fans. After all, you get nothing for being second, as the club faced a trophyless season, which can never be considered a success. When Man City’s incredible crisis began, Arsenal and Liverpool remained the only rivals in the title race, but Mikel Arteta’s crew was far beyond the Reds’ level.Yes, the Spaniard and his men reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the first time after 19 years, but their display against Paris Saint-Germain was quite subpar, especially after knocking out the mighty Real Madrid.Arteta and his men blew another chance for a major trophy (©Richard Heathcote/Getty Images)This season, even the cups didn’t help, as the Gunners were eliminated from the FA Cup in the third round and the EFL Cup in the semis.Hence, a logical question arises: How long will Arsenal trust Arteta’s process? The strategist’s position on the bench is still safe, though the following season could be the decisive one for him. He’ll most likely get some decent reinforcements, and his primary task will be attacking the Premier League title. Another failure could cost him his job.CITY’S DOWNFALL WHICH REJOICED MANYA trophyless season for Man City – a “science fiction” sentence in the past few years. This season – a reality. The Cityzens went through an unprecedented crisis at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, and it’s no wonder they lost the title. They weren’t even close to winning it. They blew their shot in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace, while their UCL path was blocked by Real Madrid.Looking from every possible perspective – an extremely poor campaign. Looking realistically – it had to happen at some point. Simply, even the greater “football dynasties” experienced downfalls, and the Cityzens could by no means avoid it.La Liga recap: Hansi’s magical kindergarten, Madrid’s trophyless farewell of legends, and reinvented duo in green and whiteHowever, they survived. Even the UCL qualification was at stake at one point, but the third place has to be a satisfactory result after everything they’ve been through. Additionally, Pep Guardiola opted to stay at Etihad, despite numerous rumours about his departure, so the next chapter in Man City’s diary can begin. And that’s what their rivals should be afraid of.They awaited City’s fall – some exploited it better, some didn’t exploit it at all. But the next season won’t be like this one. The Cityzens will bounce back. If their motivation was questionable, now it’s higher than ever. And all those who laughed at them and enjoyed their misfortune will be the first to pay.SORRY, SORRY MAN UNITEDThe popular Red Devils’ fans’ song says Glory, glory, Man United. When it comes to the season behind us, it could say Sorry, sorry, Man United. It’s even hard to describe and define the club’s worst season in the last 51 years…Ever since the 1973/1974 season in which United were relegated and 1989/1990, when the great Sir Alex Ferguson was on the verge of being sacked for being in the relegation battle, the club from Old Trafford does not remember a worse season than the one behind us.Time to suffer: Manchester lost 90 million and it will get worseErik ten Hag started it, Ruben Amorim continued, as his arrival boosted everyone’s confidence, but their hopes were in vain. At one point, the Red Devils were just above the “red zone,” while the hypothetical elimination of the three relegated sides and erasing the results against them would have put United at the bottom. The UEFA Europa League final could have somewhat redeemed Amorim and his lads, but it turned out to be the toughest defeat of the season. The Red Devils could have secured both the UCL despite being 15th and a significant financial benefit.Yet, they fell short against Tottenham and ended up empty-handed. Regardless, the Portuguese gaffer got the club’s trust, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have already arrived, so the expectations from the upcoming seasons will definitely be high.HISTORY BOOKS AND UCL? CHELSEA APPROVEAfter spending €276 million – as per Transfermarkt – on transfers during the recently finished season, the least Enzo Maresca could achieve was a return to the Champions League. And the Italian and his men fulfilled Chelsea’s primary goal.At some point during the season, they were close to table-toppers Liverpool, but their title dreams were quickly shattered. Still, the Blues shone when it mattered most – in the last round against Forest in Nottingham, beating Nuno Espirito Santo’s crew in a direct clash for the UCL.An absolute genius that saved Chelsea from an utter miseryOn the European front, Chelsea did what was expected. The London side has been the major UEFA Conference League favourite since the beginning of the competition, and the Blues justified that status. In the end, they not only won the ECL but also made history, becoming the first team to win four different European trophies (Champions League, Europa League, Cup Winners’ Cup, and Conference League).UCL and history books? For Maresca’s maiden season on the “reconstructed” Blues’ bench – more than enough.SPURS STEAL UNITED’S LUCK LED BY A MAN OF HIS WORDThe same that goes for Man United, goes for the dismal Spurs, which played one of their worst league seasons in recent history. However, they won the ultimate prize, clinching the Europa League trophy and will play in the UCL next season despite finishing the EPL campaign in the 17th position.Although his destiny on Spurs’ bench is still unknown, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou proved to be a man of his word, winning a trophy in his second season, as he boldly stated at the beginning of the campaign.Unlike the Red Devils, Tottenham will much easily forget their embarrassment in the Premier League after finding a proper consolation, as their final tally at the end of the 2024/2025 campaign says – UCL and a European trophy.MAGPIES WITH A CHANGED FORTUNESNewcastle waited for 70 years to win another trophy, and Eddie Howe and his boys finally fulfilled the wish of the city upon Tyne, winning the EFL Cup and beating Liverpool in the grand final. Moreover, the Magpies will return to the UCL after a one-year absence, so the recently finished campaign has to be characterized as successful for them as well.EPL historic season: Five teams – five trophiesTruth be told, they should send a “Thank you note” to Man United, as they wouldn’t have secured the UCL without the Red Devils. The Magpies fell seriously short against Everton in the final round, losing 1-0 at home. Luckily for them, Amorim’s crew defeated a ten-man Aston Villa at Old Trafford and directly brought the European elite to the club from the east of England.UNLUCKY VILLA AND EMI’S HORRENDOUS GOODBYEThe story about Newcastle from above has to be continued with their direct rival, Aston Villa. Except for thanking United, the Magpies should celebrate Emi Martinez as well. The Villans’ custodian was sent off in the most essential game of the season at Old Trafford, leaving his teammates to fight for the UCL shorthanded.Martinez is shown a red card in Villa’s vital game (©AFP)Unai Emery’s men expectedly failed – though the situation around Morgan Rogers’ disallowed opener raised a lot of dust – and will play in the UEL next season. To make matters worse, it was the Argentinian keeper’s final game after five years at Villa Park.It will undoubtedly remain etched in Martinez’s memory, but not for pleasant reasons.FOREST’S EUROPEAN REVIVAL, WHICH WAS (NOT) ENOUGH?At one point during the season, Nottingham were even considered title contenders alongside Liverpool and Arsenal. They held the UCL spot practically until the final few rounds and eventually fell short, securing “only” the Conference League.Nevertheless, given that the two-time European Champions haven’t played in UEFA competitions since 1996 and that just four years ago they were in England’s second tier, this is a tremendous success.Forest owner launches a shameful on-pitch tirade at Nuno Espirito SantoHowever, apparently not for everyone… The Trees’ owner Evangelos Marinakis’ reaction following a 36th-round draw against Leicester and his on-pitch argument with the boss Nuno Espirito Santo shocked the entire football world.Additionally, the Portuguese gaffer is close to leaving Nottingham after such a season…Either way, lads like Morgan Gibbs-White, Nikola Milenkovic, Ola Aina, Murillo, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Anthony Elanga probably played the best season of their lives, while Chris Wood’s form skyrocketed, as the New Zealander was the Premier League’s fifth best scorer with 20 goals.END OF THE EAGLES’ 119-YEAR SORROWSAfter nearly 120 years of existence – the club celebrates its 120th birthday on September 10 – Crystal Palace won their maiden trophy, the FA Cup. The fantastic Eagles, led by Oliver Glasner, the 2022 UEL winner with Eintracht Frankfurt, stunned Man City in the grand final and “snatched” the silverware behind Eberechi Eze’s early winner.Serie A recap: Napoli’s Scudetto in a photo finish, Inter’s collapse on all fronts, and the club that waited 50 yearsHence, the club from Selhurst Park will play European competitions – the Europa League, to be precise – for only the second time in its history after the 1998/1999 UEFA Intertoto Cup.’BIG SIX’ TASTED SOUR CHERRIESSomewhat unexpectedly, the “Big Six” crew – Liverpool, Arsenal, the Manchester giants, Tottenham, and Chelsea – suffered significantly in their clashes against Bournemouth. The Cherries won 18 out of 36 possible points when facing the English football elite and proved to be a tough nut to crack, especially playing at their Vitality Stadium.’Big Six’ who? Sour Cherries make their lives miserableEven though Bournemouth finished outside the European zone despite being close, Andoni Iraola and his lads made a significant step forward, and if the club manages to keep the key players and the Spanish tactician on the bench, Bournemouth could be one of the most pleasant surprises in England next season.MOYES AND EVERTON’S LOVE STORY CONTINUES If it wasn’t certain before, after the end of the 2024/2025 season, it’s crystal clear – Everton and David Moyes are meant for each other!Under Sean Dyche, the Toffees were in the relegation battle, winning just 17 points in 19 games. Under Moyes, they won 31 points in as many matches! Had the Scotsman been at Goodison Park since the beginning of the season, Everton would have probably been in Europe next season. Now we know for sure – they’re meant for each otherStill, the foundation Moyes made is a good start, and the upcoming season could remind us of Everton’s glorious days during Moyes’ first spell on their bench in the first decade of the century.Nevertheless, the Toffees’ eventual revival won’t happen at good old Goodison, as the 133-year-old stadium won’t be Everton’s home anymore. The Liverpool side moves to Hill Dickinson Stadium. The Toffees will learn the name of their official first rival on their new turf on June 18, when the schedule for the new Premier League season is to be announced.STORY OF SALAH ‘THE PHARAOH’ AND TRENT ‘THE TRAITOR’While Liverpool were doing great things on the pitch and marching towards the title, people in Anfield’s offices had headaches, as the contracts of three vital players were about to expire this June. The team’s captain, Virgil van Dijk, extended the deal and will continue leading Arne Slot’s army to new battles.Mohamed Salah, who played an absolutely historic season, becoming the first player to top the league in goals (29) and assists (18), extended his deal despite numerous lavish offers from Saudi Arabia.Trent Alexander-Arnold, who joined Liverpool as a six-year-old boy in 2004 and spent over 20 years at Anfield, decided to move to Real Madrid. The Englishman allegedly lacked motivation and trophies, and from that perspective, his arrival in the Spanish capital makes sense.Alexander-Arnold and Salah (©Carl Recine/Getty Images)But what about loyalty? The fans saw a new Steven Gerrard in him. They considered him a new club legend whose photos and murals would decorate Anfield and the surrounding streets. They believed in him, and he betrayed them.Liverpool fans refused to understand Trent and probably never will, while he won’t be able to erase the scenes from his last game at Anfield and all those boos and insults coming from the stands of the stadium he grew up on, uttered by the people who loved him like a brother or son until several months ago.MOST LETHAL AFRICAN DUO WHOSE DAYS ARE NUMBEREDBrentford did end up tenth on the EPL table, but Thomas Frank’s crew played amusing football. After all, they netted 66 league goals this season – less than only the top three (Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City) and Newcastle. And over half of those goals were directly scored by the most lethal African duo European football has lately – perhaps even “ever” would be the appropriate word – seen. The Cameroonian Bryan Mbeumo and the Congolese Yoane Wissa combined for 39 goals and added 11 more assists for the Bees in the recently finished Premier League campaign.African Bees with a ‘lethal’ stingThey were absolutely unstoppable and a genuine joy to watch. Unfortunately for all who loved their cooperation, their time together at Gtech Community Stadium is over, as Mbeumo has agreed to join Man United.Still, all the real football fans will fondly remember their unbelievable season of which the entire Africa can be proud.’YO-YO’ AT THE BOTTOMFor the first time in Premier League history, in two consecutive seasons, the three teams that were promoted last season instantly returned to the Championship. Last season, those sides were Sheffield United, Luton Town, and Burnley, and in the 2024/2025 campaign, Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton felt the ruthlessness of England’s top tier.League full of ups and downs… Literally! And sadly, they weren’t even close to surviving. Wolverhampton and Everton were in the relegation battle for some time, but once Vitor Pereira and David Moyes took over the Wolves and Toffees’ benches, the two sides went up, leaving the relegated trio without any hope. The three new sides we’ll watch in the EPL next season are Leeds United, Burnley, and Sunderland and, considering this latest trend, their primary goal should be to avoid relegation.Bundesliga recap: Bayern the champion again, Borussia‘s salvation in the last roundIn the end, the recently finished Premier League season brought us numerous exciting and unforgettable moments, and hopefully, the following campaign will be even better.Until the new “battlefield” in England’s top flight officially opens on August 16, stay with Mozzart Sport Kenya, as we’ll bring you all the important news about the EPL teams, their transfer activities, and much more.##NAJAVA_MECA_8963143##
