Worst season, but still the most watched team

The legacy of Sir Alex Ferguson is huge. Massive. The famous Scotsman arrived at the Old Trafford in 1986 and created one of the most popular clubs in the world with a massive support and a huge revenue. When he left in 2013, the club started its decline which is yet to stop. In fact, looking at 2025, the situation is the worst ever and the fall is the biggest one – Manchester United finished the season as the 15th team in the Premier League. But in the non-football areas, the club is as big as ever. Commercial line is great, advertising is great, revenue (not connected to the results) are great. 12 years after Ferguson’s departure everything looks like he is still here (except the results).Guess who is the second-most valued club in the worldUnited still get the great sponsorship deals, and as a club, they are the second most valued in the world with 6.6 billion dollars, just shy of Real’s 6.75. And recently, The Times revealed another stunning fact – Manchester United was the most watched football club in England! Sky Sports and TNT Sports both recorded drops in average viewing figures after two record-breaking seasons – with Sky down 10 per cent – according to The Times, but the game including Manchester were still the most watchable. The first reason is certainly the most logical one – United has a huge fan base and is considered to be one of the most popular in the UK, so many supporters watched the matches, even thou it was painful to watch. When Arsenal ‘helped’ United sign AntonyBut the second reason is much more interesting: One broadcast industry insider suggested that part of the club’s enduring appeal last season may have been driven not just by loyal supporters, but also by rival fans tuning in to watch their struggles. Despite the team’s disappointing form on the pitch, their ability to draw an audience highlights their ongoing commercial power and importance to broadcasters. So if they play great, more supporters are watching, and if they play bad, more rival fans are watching, making United the most desirable team to watch, no matter the results.FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP 2025Sunday03:00: (3.40) Al Ahly Cairo (3.70) Inter Miami (2.05)19:00: (1.01) Bayern (17.0) Auckland (60.0)22:00: (1.90) PSG (3.85) Atletico Madrid (4.10)Monday00:55: (2.65) Palmeiras (3.30) Porto (2.70)05:00: (1.95) Botafogo (3.45) Seattle (4.00)***odds are subject to change***
