Sometimes it looks like Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada is living in a dream. The experienced executive, long known for being one of the top executives for Manchester City who made the ‘ultimate sin’ and moved to the red part of the city in 2024 sometimes talks like he is not connected to the reality. Speaking to the media recently, he made two remarks, which are totally out of reality, especially for a man who was instrumental in so many City’s trophies (the Champions League among them). After so many seasons, the Citizens finally managed to win the UEFA competition and even in England, they won the titles but it was not easy. And yet, here he is, as the CEO of the club with a worst season since 1974, saying that a title for United is a possibility!Worst season, but still the most watched teamSince Manchester United is arguably the biggest club in England, even thou they are in constant decline since 2013, it’s quite logical for the leading people of the club to be optimistic and try to set high goals. But even in the most optimistic scenario, does anyone believes that the Red Devils could challenge City or Liverpool for the title in 2028?”Can the team win the Premier League title by 2028? Of course. We’ve just finished 15th and it seems an impossible task. But why not aim for it? Why not do everything in our power?” he said in an interview for the ‘United we stand’ magazine.Cunha’s first words as a Red DevilBut Berrada didn’t stop there. Even thou he surely knew about the situation in the club before he came and even thou he has been at his position for over a year now, he was still surprised how bad things have gone this year at Old Trafford.“We knew that by bringing in Ruben mid-season that it was going to be even more difficult for the team to perform. We saw it as an investment for the following seasons, because we were going to give Ruben time to get to know the squad, the club, the Premier League. I couldn’t have said that we were going to finish 15th. That was never the goal. I think we probably underestimated the time it would have required the team to adjust to the system. But we don’t regret the decision because I’m convinced that we’ll see this pay off next season” he said. So far, they are going into the right direction with a proper striker, who is experienced in the Premier League like Matheus Cunha, but let’s wait until the end of the transfer window.FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP 2025Matchday 1TuesdayBoca Juniors – Benfica 2-2 (2-1)/Merentiel 21, Battaglia 27 – Di Maria 45+3 pen, Otamendi 84/Flamengo – Esperance 2-0 (1-0)/De Arrascaeta 17, Araujo 70/Fluminense – Dortmund 0-022:00: (1.60) River Plate (3.90) Urawa RD (6.00)Wednesday00:55: (2.90) Ulsan (3.15) Mamelodi (2.55)04:00: (5.90) Monterrey (4.00) Inter Milan (1.58)19:00: (1.07) Manchester City (13.0) Wydad Casablanca (25.0)22:00: (1.33) Real Madrid (5.90) Al Hilal (9.50)Thursday00:55: (2.85) Pachuca (3.35) Salzburg (2.50)04:00: (12.0) Al Ain (6.50) Juventus (1.22)***odds are subject to change***
