The former Gor Mahia striker founded MOFA in 2019 in a bid to build a legacy project that will nurture talents from the grassroots and at a young age, and make stars out of them.The ambitious project, which is being implemented in phases, contains an elite football team, academies and other facilities in its vision.Government reveals why Nyayo Stadium is not fully ready to host CHAN yetCurrently, MOFA is partnering with schools to nurture talents, host tournaments for young kids, and establish players by engaging in charity initiatives.The elite team of the foundation also featured in the National Super League (NSL), where they finished seventh in the just-concluded season.

The foundation is also constructing an ultra-modern sports complex in Othoro, Homa Bay County, which will house all the teams and projects once complete.##NAJAVA_MECA_9002053##Olunga has, for the past couple of days, in a series of videos on both his official social media and MOFA accounts, shared videos, giving snippets of the multi-million Sports Complex that he is building for his club.According to the videos shared and Olunga’s explanation, apart from the 11 aside and seven a side pitches that were initially covered by Mozzart Sport, the complex will also contain a basketball court and a tennis padel.Works on the basketball and tennis courts are ongoing and are continuing in tandem with the football pitch.TACTICAL ANALYSIS: Nairobi United’s masterplan than downed Gor MahiaThe different pitches and courts across the complex definitely bring about a challenge in drainage and water retention, but being an engineering student himself, Olunga said that was catered for.

The former Tusker FC man engaged a team of engineers who designed the drainage to prevent any flooding and water clogging in the complex.“This whole football pitch will have proper drainage, as can be seen throughout this place.##NAJAVA_MECA_9002022##When the rain falls, the water seeps down to the pipes laid underground that are going to see out the water,” he added.Additionally, MOFA is considering erecting water harvester systems to complement the borehole, which was being sunk according to the first update.As is required of standard football stadia by FIFA and CAF, the pitch will also have water sprinklers, a testament to the high standards being observed.Harambee Stars defender parts ways with South African club“We also have underground pop-up sprinklers that are mainly seen in these fantastic stadiums all over the world, so that whenever we have a game, it just has points where they can pop up and they are running all over this football pitch.”In part 6 of the video series, Olunga showcases the modern gym facility that is almost fully equipped and that boasts state-of-the-art equipment.

For Cardio machines, the gym has treadmills, elliptical trainers, spin bikes and rowing machines for a full-body workout, among others.##NAJAVA_MECA_9001185##Additionally, the gym is also composed of strength training equipment like dumbbells, barbells and weight plates for free weight and machines like leg press and chest press, as well as benches.“One of our challenges as a country is that players are not exposed to such facilities at a young age, and so this facility, which will be among the best, will be used by our teams to prepare them early,” said Olunga.The complex has also factored in Health and Safety in the facility, with the first step being the erection of a concrete perimeter wall across the complex, enhanced with electric fencing just to ensure the people and equipment are safe.How hiding behind Ulinzi Complex couches saved Zico from angry Gor Mahia fans (VIDEO)The MOFA complex sits on a five-acre land and, upon completion, will transform the development of young talents not only in Homa Bay but also across the country, serving as a benchmark in the country.“We want to be the game changers, we want this facility to be the best and produce good talent because for the longest time, infrastructure has always let us down as Kenya. We want this to be one of a kind, and that is why we are bringing a modern facility,” stated Olunga in one of the videos.
