Many would be pleased to hear that there are still people who aren’t in football just for money. Okay, for all we know, there’s at least one such man. A man who apparently loves trying to help struggling teams and who deserves respect for that – Andy Carroll.Last September, the former Premier League star who played for Newcastle, Liverpool, West Ham, Reading, and WBA (among others) joined the French fallen giants, Bordeaux, shortly after the six-time champions of France were relegated to the fourth division. However, now he’s decided to take a few more steps down and join the English sixth-tier minnows Dagenham & Redbridge! It’s not every day… ⚔️ pic.twitter.com/wkgK9q1QGG— Dagenham & Redbridge (@Dag_RedFC) July 12, 2025 And what a day yesterday was for the club from East London, given that just a couple of hours before Carroll’s official unveiling, the popular Daggers announced they had new Qatari owners. In prospect, that could mean a massive revival for Dag & Red – a team founded in 1992 whose greatest success was the 2010/2011 season, which they spent in League One (England’s third flight). Excluding that short-term rise, the club was mostly balancing between the fourth and fifth divisions. Last season, they were relegated to National League South (sixth tier) for the first time since 2000.##EDITORS_CHOICE##However, the Daggers will have many reasons to be optimistic, given that Carroll is obviously there to stay, as he signed a three-year deal, while the media in England claim he’ll get a position in the club’s management once he hangs up his boots.Speaking to Sky Sports, the ex-England international said he had offers from way better sides but wanted to join the club that was the “right fit” and once again pointed out that he wasn’t playing for money.”It doesn’t matter the level, or anything, as long as I get on the pitch and play football, that’s all that matters. Coming here and showing people I am just playing for the love of football rather than the money and the level is something I wanted to do. This is something which could be fantastic. We have a project to get them out of non-league and back up the leagues,” the 36-year-old said via the BBC.##NAJAVA_MECA_9016063##
