Harambee Stars midfielder Duncan Otieno on Wednesday evening helped his Gaborone United side climb to the summit of the Botswana Premier League as he featured in the team’s 3-0 victory over Police XI in a match played at the Molepolole Sports Complex.Having started the game on the substitutes bench, the Kenyan international was called upon in the latter stages of the encounter as the team went to record the win that maintained their unbeaten start to the new season (W4 D1), a result that consequently took them to the top of the table courtesy of a superior goal difference.After a scoreless first half, it is substitute Thshepo Malgas who made the difference just fifteen minutes after being brought on as he opened the scoring with a thunderbolt that gave goalkeeper Kamogelo Mogomotsi in the Police XI goal no chance.Ten minutes after finding a way of breaching the Police defense, malgas turned from goal scorer to provider as Gaborone hit again with Thatayaone Kgamanyane heading home a Malgas delivery to stretch the home side’s lead.##NAJAVA_MECA_6854007##With the team looking to safely seal the three points, Otieno, a defensive midfielder was brought on in the 85th minute to cover any spaces with his fresh legs.It was however his side who managed to add a further goal as Malgas completed his brace right at the death to seal the 3-0 victory, a second half performance that earned praise from assistant coach Pontsho Moloi.Morocco stare at knockout spots as they face Canada in final group clash”We started slowly and we were very sluggish. We started playing after 30th minute which is not right. We were better in the second half hence we managed to win.
