Sparks, Nakuru pick win in WPL second round

Goals from Monalisa Achieng, Violet Achieng and Yvonne Kavere handed title-hopefuls Zetech Sparks sweet victory over Women Premier League (WPL) rivals Wadadia in a match played at Nairobi’s Gems Cambridge. The Bernard Kitolo-led Sparks send their statement of intent early on in the match with a goal in the fourth minute from Monalisa to give the Thika Rooad-based varsity side an early advantage. Ulinzi Starlets hammer Trans Nzoia Falcons to go topThe visiting side tightened their defence and the two sides were separated by the single goal heading to the break. It was a largely quiet second half until Violet broke the silence in the 74th minute, doubling the advantage for Kitolo’s charges. The match looked like it would end with the score as was, but Kavere, in spectacular fashion gave Sparks the third for the win. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6881967##In the other match of the day, Kisumu All Starlets lost their home match to Nakuru City Queens through a Ruth Chebungei strike.
