Denied action for five weeks, Wazito FC are upbeat as they prepare for their first game of the brand new 2022-23 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season against Bidco United in a midweek fixture on Wednesday.On Saturday morning, a revamped Muhoroni Stadium was a beehive of activities, as the former big spenders, now based in Kisumu, made sure every detail was in order, including taking a team photo.The Muhoroni Stadium has already been given a clean bill of health by the FKF inspectors to host top-flight games. A quick look at the stadium located along the busy Nairobi-Kisumu highway, reveals a great effort put in to have it host the league games. The inside perimeter fence has been strengthened and painted white, so is the outer wall. Changing rooms and lavatories have also been reworked with new nets mounted on the goal posts. “When we received a confirmation about our participation in the league (FKFPL), the morale in the team shot up, the cloud of uncertainty that weighed us down for five weeks was gone, and the excitement was palpable, we can’t wait to get the ball rolling,” Jeff Odongo, the team’s stand-in manager told Mozzart Sport.##NAJAVA_MECA_6894773##Playing at the dreaded Muhoroni Stadium, Jeff opines is a huge responsibility, and they want to keep its status as a tough hunting ground for visiting teams.”When you step on that pitch, as a player, you feel the responsibility to give your best, to make the fans happy, we want to keep that tradition.”The stadium will also host FKF Division 1 league games involving Muhoroni Young Academy, a feeder team for Wazito FC.Wazito FC, Mathare United and Vihiga Bullets FC were excluded from the FKFPL initial fixtures as a case challenging relegations and promotions from the league.
