Kenyatta slams officating in Homeboyz defeat after a glut of penalties

FC Talanta head coach Ken Kenyatta has blamed match officials for his side’s 4-2 thrashing by Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday at the Bukhungu Stadium saying the officiating was below par.The troubled Nairobi-based side conceded three first-half penalties and trailed 3-1 at the interval before both teams scored a goal apiece in the second half. Nigerian striker Michael Karamor converted all three penalties before Moses Mudavadi added the fourth goal of the match. Brian Yakhama and Eric Lusala scored the visitors’ consolation goals.##NAJAVA_MECA_6893005##After the match, Kenyatta lamented the level of officiating in the game. He does not understand how the match officials allowed over 15 minutes of first-half extra time, a period during which Homeboyz scored their third goal. He also questioned the penalties awarded to Homeboyz.“The officiating was poor. How can the referee add 16 minutes in the first half yet there was no injury or meaningful time wasted? The penalties were also not genuine and we feel bad that poor officiating has cost us,” Kenyatta told the Nation.A day before the game, Kenyatta had expressed fears that they could have failed to honour the game due to financial challenges currently crippling the club. The situation is so dire to the extent that coach Kenyatta has not had a full house at the training ground for many months as players opt to stay away. The players and other staff have not received their dues for nine months now and everything points to a not-so-bright future unless their sponsors the Communication Authority pump money into the club. Prior to the loss to Homeboyz, Talanta had drawn with Kariobangi Sharks and picked a win over Nairobi City Stars.Gor Mahia, Sharks clash after fortnight break with unbeaten status at stake
