With the FIFA suspension yorke off the shoulders of the Football Kenya Federation, FKF the country cannot wait to resume activities under the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) umbrella.“They (Cecafa) are very happy to have Kenya, who remains the headquarters of the regional Football body, back. There was a feeling that the body was weak without Kenya, a long-term strong member,” Doris Petra, the acting FKF president, told Mozzart Sport.Petra met and had a chat with Wallace Karia, the Tanzania Football Federation, TFF and Cecafa president during the World Cup final in Doha, Qatar on Sunday.“Karai expressed happiness that Kenya will be able to participate in the Cecafa tournaments from next year,”Kenya was frozen out of international football by FIFA in February over government interference, but the same was lifted in November after government compliance with the FIFA demands, which included reinstatement of the FKF Executive and reopening of Kandanda House.Cecafa is set to elect a new office during its Elective General Assembly slated for January 6th, 2023 in Zanzibar. Thereafter, a new calendar for the season will be announced.According to the programme the members will also discuss and ratify the CECAFA competitions and the calendar for 2023/2024, they will also receive, discuss and ratify a proposal on the amendments of the CECAFA Statues, appoint auditors, receive and peruse the CECAFA Financial Reports for the Years 2022.Karia is the current President of CECAFA, while Francis Amin (South Sudan) is the 1st Vice President and Isayas Jira, also the President of the Ethiopia Football Federation (EFF) is the 2nd Vice President.The 12 members of CECAFA include; Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania and Zanzibar.
