CHAN 2022: Micho keen on writing history with Uganda Cranes

Uganda Cranes Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is keen on guiding the team past the group stage at the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) that commences on 13th January 2023 in Morocco.Cranes are currently in camp preparing for the 18-team tournament that features players playing in their respective domestic leagues only and are eligible for the current season.##NAJAVA_MECA_6905681##Micho’s charges sealed qualification for the sixth time in a row after beating Tanzanian 4-0 0n aggregate in the playoff and they once again head to the continental competitions. They have previously featured in CHAN in 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020.Despite being consistent in the qualifiers, Uganda Cranes have never made it out of the group stage. In Algeria, they have been pooled in what is arguably the toughest group alongside powerhouses, Senegal, Ivory Coast, and DR Congo. On paper, they can be said to be underdogs in the group but Micho is positive. He believes that lessons picked from last failures will spur his team to success. This will be his third time at the tournament as he was in charge of Cranes during the 2014 and 2016 editions.“We believe that history is a teacher of life; we have learned from past experiences where we didn’t succeed to get enough points to progress and now we want to learn from the past, we want to work very hard and have unity of purpose,” says Sredojevic told the Independent..@UgandaCranes training on Saturday in Lugogo.#CHANUpdates#UgandaCranes pic.twitter.com/JcvdD4P0Dm— FUFA (@OfficialFUFA) December 24, 2022 Full Provisional CHAN SquadGoalkeepersNafian Alionzi (URA FC), Mathias Muwanga (Onduparaka FC), Emmanuel Kalyowa (BUL FC), Joel Mutakubwa (Gaddafi FC), Jack Komakech (Vipers SC)DefendersAshiraf Mandela (Vipers SC), James Begisa (URA FC), Grant Matsiko (Wakiso Giants FC), Derrick Ndahiro (URA FC), Isa Mubiru (Vipers SC), Arthur Kiggundu (Express FC), Hillary Mukundane (Vipers SC), Kenneth Ssemakula(SC Villa), Geofrey Wasswa (KCCA FC), Filbert Obenchan (KCCA FC), Gift Fred (SC Villa), Bright Vuni (Arua Hill SC)MidfieldersSiraje Ssentamu (Vipers SC), Marvin Joseph Youngman (Vipers SC), Saidi Kyeyune (URA FC), Hussein Ssenoga (Express FC), Abdu Karim Watambala(Vipers SC), Moses Waiswa (KCCA FC)ForwardsMilton Karisa (Vipers SC), Ibrahim Orit (Vipers SC), Travis Mutyaba (SC Villa), Moses Aliro (Wakiso Giants FC), Kagawa Ssenoga (KCCA FC), Rogers Kassim Mato (KCCA FC), Bright Anukani (Vipers SC), Ibrahim Kasule (Wakiso Giants FC), Titus Ssematimba (Wakiso Giants), Frank Ssebufu (Wakiso Giants FC), Najib Yiga (Vipers SC), Cromwell Rwothomio (Vipers SC)Mieno: Tusker not focused on being unbeaten
