Tappering Wazito suffer twin blows with Raila and Ochieng situations

Wazito FC head coach Jeffers Odongo admits that his team has a problem in attack with two of his key strikers currently sidelined with injuries picked from a road accident.Last week, the Kisumu-based side played their first game of the season against Bidco United. The match, played at the Muhoroni Stadium ended in a barren draw. Wazito were cleared to play after the constitutional court issued a stay order against the Sports Tribunal Decision to overturn the nullification of last season’s leagues by FKF’s NEC.##NAJAVA_MECA_6906295##On the eve of the game, however, Odongo and his team were dealt a huge blow when strikers Hansel Ochieng and Dickson Raila were involved in a road accident and were subsequently ruled out of the opening tie of the season. The team ended up firing blanks in the game and according to Odongo, the unavailability of the two alongside Collins Neto who was nursing a groin problem proved costly in the game as chances, that ordinarily would be converted by strikers went begging. “We have a challenge in attack and it was evident in our first match against Bidco United. We had prepared well for the game and everything was set but on the eve of our first game of the season, two of my strikers were involved in a road accident and we had to play with a false striker. Hansel and Raila were both sidelined and Neto was already injured so we had to improvise unfortunately it did not work out as so many chances went to waste,” he stated. He reflected on what he termed as a dominant display against the Anthony Akhulia-led team.“We played well, dominated the game, the officiating was good but we just lacked that key man in attack to finish off the chances and that proved to be the difference between us getting three and one points in that match,”.Next for Wazito is an away game against Kenya Police FC on 4th of January 2023 and Odongo has confirmed that Neto will be available for that game.“I cannot speak on the availability of Hansel and Raila at this point but I will be guided by the medical team in the next few days. Neto, on the other hand, is available, he had trained well, the groin issue is gone and he should be available for our game against Kenya Police FC,” he added.Okello under no pressure despite barren start at Homeboyz
