Teams that will take part in the prestigious tournament are Everton, Newcastle, Red Star, Besiktas amongst others. The Kenyan International took to his socials to express his joy on the development. “This is in line with our vision to expose young talent to the world. The journey just begun.” He posted. MOFA has various youth teams with the senior team playing in the Division One League having acquired Sindo United’s spot. Mighty Eagles, an academy based in Kitale, is also set to grace the Gothia Cup according to information on the tournament’s portal. “Mighty Eagles Academy is a group that has come together from different villages with poor background here in Kenya. We have decided to give it a try in order to make it to the tournament. I understand that getting involved in the tournament can be a very costly affair but it’s better to try and fail than not trying at all. We are going to fund our trip to the Gothia Cup through friends and well-wishers contributions,” says Moses Zewedi, the academy’s founder. He continues: Olunga scores twice as Duhail ascend to the top”Already we’re engaging different stake holders and our local leaders through organizing of fund raising from both corporate groups, companies and individuals. We’re keeping the hope alive and participating in the Gothia Cup 2023 is our main goal now. I managed to do a national tv interview and appealed to Kenyans for their support,”What I like the most about the Gothia Cup is actually the way it’s being organized in the most professional manner, just like a World Cup tournament. The media coverage of the tournament is actually top notch and quite different from the tournaments in Kenya. Also bringing young people together from different countries and diverse cultures makes it total different from our tournaments around and I would love to be travelling to Gothia Cup each year, if we only can afford to do so,” he added. Both MOFA and Mighty Eagles Academy will take part in the U17 category of the Gothia Cup International Tournament.
