The Kenyan duo of Vincent Oburu and Ian Otieno have survived a purge that has claimed the scalp of five players attached to former Zambian champions Zesco United.The club confirmed that five players had left the club including South Sudan national team skipper and centre back Peter Maker Manyang.The highly-rated defender turned down Kenyan suitors for Zesco in 2021 and subsequently, he became the first player from his country to ply trade in the Zambian Super League.##NAJAVA_MECA_6945077##Others who separated with the Ndola based club include Ugandan striker Alfred Leku and former Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder Austin Muwowo.Zesco who have been struggling to regain their past glory also parted company with Chitiya Mususu, Roderick Khembo and Fackson Kapumbu.The development comes hardly two days after the club thumped Red Arrows 3-0 in a game that Otieno will glad to have kept a cleansheet with Oburu helping the forward line poke holes into the opponent’s defence.Kenyan youngster set to be loaned out in SwedenOtieno joined Zesco in 2020 from Arrows while Oburu moved south in January last year after leaving Kenyan side Wazito.The exit of the five certainly creates room for new players who are expected to join the club that has an high affinity for Kenyan clubs.Zesco who reunited with the league winning tactician George Lwandamina in December last year are scheduled to play Nkwazi this weekend.Meanwhile, the club has reunited with former striker Lazarus Kambole.
