Klopp won’t quit and assures: ‘Players are still listening to me’

Liverpool is in crisis (again). After the injury plagued 2020, this season is another one in which the Reds are out of the Premier League race early, but everybody now knows it’s not injuries who are the main reason for the failure. They do have their part in the Anfield mess, but it seems that some players are just worn out, some of them are getting older and some of them are maybe tired of their coach and his seven years tenure in Liverpool. But according to Jurgen Klopp, none of those abovementioned reasons are true.  🗣 “If nobody tells me, I will not go.”Jurgen Klopp confirms his commitment to Liverpool as long as he is wanted by the club pic.twitter.com/VHg3luRGVZ— Football Daily (@footballdaily) January 17, 2023 Speaking ahead of the FA Cup reply with Wolverhampton (the one which he nearly lost but VAR saved him), the German tactician spoke about the current crisis and all of its aspects. One of the theories is that the players are not responding to their coach’s instructions, but Klopp denied that immediately, and also vowed to stay as the manager beyond this season. “At Borussia Dortmund, it was clear when I left in 2015 – I said something has to change. It is a different situation here. Either the manager’s position changes or a lot of other things change. So, as far as I am concerned, what I hear – unless someone tells me different – I will not go. So that means maybe there is a point where we have to change other stuff. We will see but that is for the future, like summer or whatever. Not now. I was not that often in a similar situation but I know exactly how it works when things don’t go well. There is a list of things you go through and one of the things is the players aren’t listening to the coach anymore. In Germany we say the manager doesn’t reach the team anymore. So I understand it looks like this sometimes but it is just not the case. You can take that off the list” said Klopp. 📺 Jurgen Klopp on his loyalty to his players:”I’m not too loyal. I am loyal, but not too loyal. If you can bring in another player to replace him, it makes sense to [phase a player out]. If you can’t bring anyone in, you can’t have anyone go out.” 🔴 pic.twitter.com/jFtUxWsv7L— Anfield Watch (@AnfieldWatch) January 16, 2023 If it was another situation, maybe just buying new players would solve the problem, but this is not the situation for it. American owners are looking to sell the club (and Qatar will do everything possible to buy them off), and no investment will happen before June. And Klopp knows he don’t have that amount of time. “We have to play better football now. We cannot play and say: “Ok, these are the problems but next season we don’t have them anymore”. That is a really long time. The only thing I want is to fix this situation, that’s all. And with all the things, some of them, it was clear we’d have problems and it would be another important period of change really but with all the injuries, it’s much more than you could have expected. That is a fact as well but nobody is interested in it. Other teams are flying and that is fine – we were in that position last year. I’m responsible for specific things. With all the things you do, I really think you should behave properly and not blame somebody so you don’t get blamed yourself” said the German. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6955610##
