Sharks coach to ask more from his players as ‘familiarization sets in’

Heading into last weekend’s round of Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) fixtures, Kariobangi Sharks had gone four matches without a win – suffering a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Kenya Police in match-day six. The winless run however extended to five as Sharks fell to another 2-1 defeat in the hands of high-flying KCB FC. This is not a sorry story – at least for the team head coach William Muluya.“The boys are doing well, am happy so far with what they are doing,” Muluya said following the loss to KCB, answering the question of how he felt his young squad was fairing on in the league.“I am a hundred percent sure that they [players] will start paying off,” he added. In a story of two pictures, Kariobangi Sharks have a solitary win in seven games so far this season, but there’s another look that Muluya drew mixed feelings from – goal scoring.##NAJAVA_MECA_6954613##“Maybe we need to be having more than one goal because we haven’t failed to score in any of our matches,” Muluya noted. “Getting a second goal might do the job for us. Automatically, whoever scores more goals wins the games.”Sharks on Sunday had a dominant second half, limiting KCB to a few looks for the entire period only to concede a late goal by KCB skipper Michael Mutinda.Despite all of that, the head coach believes that it might be the right time to ‘give the boys a pinch’ to start stringing in positive results. Former KCB, Sofapaka captain set to join Tusker after a spell in the cold“The familiarization of the young guys to the league has already set in,” Muluya said. “I’ll give a little pinch of asking results again from them. They need to know it’s a competition. The moment you win you get the points but when you lose of course it’s a subtraction on the log.”Looking to improve on their 13th position on the log, Kariobangi Sharks next play Vihiga Bullets on Wednesday before facing off with Posta Rangers over the weekend.
